Joe Woolley believes that he has been blessed to truly live his dream – he has managed to turn his hobby and passion into a profitable career. He was a professional salesman, sales manager and production manager for over 3 decades. First working in the Health & Beauty aids industry, then on the documentation side of the construction world, he watched both environments change and so did he.
He started in the United States Practical Shooting Association in 1984 (his USPSA # is in the low 2000’s). Thirty-two years later, after countless matches and twenty plus years as a club president, he hung up his competition gear. Though still a three division Master, he understood that he had reached a point where he could still shoot with all the youngsters but couldn’t run with them anymore. He switched over to long guns and the Precision Rifles Series achieving a local expert rating there before knee replacements took him out of that game as well.
Along the way, Joe Woolley earned eight NRA instructor ratings as well as that of Training Counselor. He has been an active Texas License to Carry Instructor since 2009. He devotes most of his efforts instructing pistol and rifle students at American Shooting Centers in west Houston. He is especially interested in those who wish to start shooting competitively. A resident of Katy, Texas with his wife of 47 years, Joe also serves in his church as a leader in the Emergency Response Team.
