Hotel Chains for Gun Owners

One of those friends has several hundred acres there. They hunt whitetail there. And I don't know if they stay in a hotel or have a cabin or place to stay when they hunt there. They do bag monster bucks.
There's big bucks in Illinois, but there's big bucks in northern Missouri and Iowa too.

I will personally drive completely around Illinois to get to Indiana and I'm not kidding at all.

A few Texas White Tail while visiting family in Austin Tejas hill country last month.

I used to travel for a living (200+ nights/year in hotels)... HI Express was (at the time) my preferred hotel...they never had a clue I ever had firearms in their properties and I can't imagine willingly telling them I was armed. Can you elaborate about your OP....what does HI do these days about guns on their premises (sign on the door? they'd never know I was concealed anyway...). Those travel days were 16 years ago...I imagine things can change a lot...

The chain (IHG) puts a notice in their online receipt once you have already booked the room. They still say it is a property by property decision but I have not found a property in 2024 that didn't prohibit guns on the property. It has been a real problem when flying in and getting to the property only to find out no guns and no place to store them even if I didn't want to carry them. It is especially a problem in anti gun states like HI or NYC.

The problem with breaking the hotel rules is you are guilty of something, and if you shoot someone, none of the normal CC coverage will work. The prosecutors may use that trespass violation to elevate whatever they are considering to a higher level.

We are Diamond Elite, they never know when I'm carrying. They don't ask...I don't tell.
This. For 3 + decades I was on the road in various states, 200+ days/year. I carried concealed in every state where it’s legal to do so. I carry concealed and epithet concealed. Never discussed or had issues in any facility I was in. If you’re “made” by hotel staff methinks you need to revise your carry strategy.

Some hotels are more understanding than others, but I always check specific policies before booking. I’ve even had different experiences within the same chain depending on location. A friend had no trouble traveling with his firearm in one city but got pushback in another.
