    SA 35 with new grips.

I ordered the cocobola grip on my SA-35 directly from Hogue and I think they were around $75. I have tritium night sights (not pictured in the above photo) and got them Springfield. Tru-Glo made them: Mike

    Wheel guns

I got my 4½” Standard Manufacturing SAA in .45 Colt out to the range today. I fired twenty rounds to familiarized myself with this new piece. With a new target at 15 yards, I fired 15 rounds at the center bull and five at the smaller bull to the left of center. I think we'll get along just...

Rumble in the Jungle: American Tanks in Vietnam

Fish, I don't think there's any doubt! Hey, I'm not sure what unit I was with but this photo was with a recon unit just off of "Thunder Road," north of Lai Khe, if memory serves: I also found a pic of some Rome plows but, again, I don't recall the unit: Mike

Rumble in the Jungle: American Tanks in Vietnam

Somewhere along the way, I read about that tank the VC buried. I was based in Lai Khe in '69 and part of '70 The BRO folded it's colors sometime in March (I think) and went back to Fort Reilly. Long time ago! By the way, if you guys don't know about the PACT Act, please check it out. If...

    Wheel guns

Sweet! I don't think they're currently making the "bird's head" pieces so yours may be a real collector's SAA. Mike

Rumble in the Jungle: American Tanks in Vietnam

Fish, I think I took this pic when out with 1/16 Mech. I only went out with them once and recall the CO was a Lt. Col. named Suffstill (I think that's close but not correct). That was in '69 but I don't recall the month. Mike

    Wheel guns

They're in business. I just got these pieces within the last six week. You may be thinking about US Firearms Manufacturing Co. They made some fine pieces and, rumor has it, Standard Manufacturing has several of their craftsmen. Mike

Rumble in the Jungle: American Tanks in Vietnam

What year was that? When I went out with the 1st of the 4th Cav (Big Red One) in '69-'70, I never saw a Zippo tank. The APCs I saw were all equipped with a big ol' Ma Deuce. I cannot imagine an M-113 going up full of napalm. Glad you made it back!!! Mike

    Wheel guns

I've been on a wheel gun kick of late and am really enjoying three Standard Manufacturing SAAs: I also grabbed a couple of new Pythons with a 3" & 5" pipe respectively. They're fun shooters. Mike

Rumble in the Jungle: American Tanks in Vietnam

This certainly isn't a good pic of an M-48 but I was standing on this one after the fracas was over. Canister rounds settled the argument. Mike

    Finally a SA-35

I picked up one on Saturday at a large gun/sporting good store in Mebane, NC. I've bought three or four firearms from Mace Sports. Good folks. Mike

    Found an SA-35 Yesterday

About ten days ago, I was in a nice gun store in Mebane, NC, and ended up going home with a nice, new Colt Python. While waiting around for the paperwork to go through, I spied a SA-35 in the display case. The salesman said they'd had a few days and only a couple of people had looked at it...

Huey Hogs: The World’s First Helicopter Gunship

Well, that won't be the worst thing that ever happened. That AH-1 was flown by a 1st Aviation unit out of Phu Loi and they were nicknamed, "The Rebels." I flew a few missions with them in Charlie models as a combat photographer. The former Confederate Air Force (now the Commemorative Air...

Huey Hogs: The World’s First Helicopter Gunship

That looks like a "Charlie model" gunship and those mini-guns were severely bad-ass! I know what you mean, HayesGreer, as they scared the crap out of me! Here's a pic I took in '69 when we were inserted into a hot LZ: I took another pic of a AH-1 Cobra on a gun run. I was trying to get the...

    Single Action Army

Years ago, prior to going to Vietnam, I had a Colt SAA in .45 Colt and it's little brother in .22. Foolishly, when I got home, I traded them for a Colt 1911 Government model and a Hi-Power. Do I still have them . . . . heck no. (Never said I was smart.) Well, now that I'm retired, I've...
