Did You Know the Mil-Spec Could Do This?

I've never tried scoping any of my Semi Autos, buy I do have a 3X scope mounted to my old Interarms Virginia Dragoon SAA in .357 Mag. With it's 7 1/2" barrel, a 100 yards is a piece of cake for that old hogleg, and a fun day to ring steel. Most of my Semi's aren't readily capable of taking a...

10mm vs. .40: Was the FBI Wrong (or Right) About This?

I like the .40, and have no issue controlling the recoil in my Walther PPQ M2, but I carry a 9mm more months than I carry my .40, which I only carry when I can wear a coat or jacket. I seriously considered buying a 10mm in a 1911 platform 2 years ago. What stopped me was I couldn't find ammo...

10mm vs. .40: Was the FBI Wrong (or Right) About This?

Yeah, I stumble there too. The author's description could lead one to think they have the same case/chamber dimensions.

    Very well written article.

Story of the Krag: The Springfield Model 1892 Infantry Rifle

I've had the privilege of shooting a couple of Krags, and it is a very smooth action. Much smoother than the 1903 Springfield we have in the family. The Krag really is what I'd call, a beautifully engineered/designed action, and the side loading gate, a very novel and well executed concept. I'd...

Tsar Tank: Russia’s Secret WWI Weapon?

Since the Great War is part of era my own amateur historian research into the armaments of the late 19th and early 20th Centuries, I appreciate the article. I'd read a little about the Tsar Tank before, buy you managed to catch all of the main points about the tank. Thank you for a well...

    German K43 Rifle: Deutschland’s DMR

Congratulations Doctor on your new (old) gun, and getting it set up as a DM/Sniper Rifle. It's always perplexed me why the German High Command was so hidebound in their insistence of No Gas Port on small arms barrels. Gas Trap works, but a host of issues makes it a lot less effective than ported...

Ayoob: Is It Time to Retire the 1911?

I agree for the most part. The 1911 and the .45 ACP aren't going anywhere any time soon. The question of whether or not they are obsolete is really a rather silly one, because the very word "obsolete" means something is either no longer made, or something is based on an antiquated design. Though...

Ayoob: Is It Time to Retire the 1911?

I've one of the cheap Rock Island GI clones. Bought it just because my range buddies wanted me to shoot in our local quarter matches. It handles ball ammo fine, but not any of the Self Defense loads I've tried,, without a lot of hiccups. The gunsmith that worked the trigger over for me, is who...

Ayoob: Is It Time to Retire the 1911?

I feel the exact same about Denver. Could have really moved up the ladder if I'd relocated. Company even offered to move me. I said I'd rather have a root canal with no anesthetic. Denver's a schitthole.

    Will Your Mags Fail You?

These days, my magazine testing is not too different than the author's. An experience several years back, convinced me of the need to test. Prior to that, it wasn't a subject I practiced with any regularity. That experience with my old CC Weapon, a Walther PPK/S, proved to me the needs for...

First Look: SAINT Victor 9mm Carbine

So far, I've resisted the PCC bug for several reasons, but mainly due to the not insignificant investment I've made into running 5.56 NATO and .300 AAC as primary weapons. 5.56 Amno has come down in price nearly:to prepandemic prices. .300 AAC has improved a little, but not as much so yet...

WWI Body Armor: Plate Mail in the Trenches

Body Armor has an interesting history. Really, it took a lot of time for technology and synthetics to catch up to the needs of the modern soldier. Weight and ease of movement has always been the main drawback, and even today with composites, it's still an issue constantly being addresses. Thank...

LPVO vs. Red Dot — Which Do You Need?

I own for ARs. Two in 5.56 and two in .300 AAC. One AR and both .300's have RD's, the other 5.56 has an LPVO (1 - 6) on it. It's zeroed at 300 yards. If I really want to reach out, I'm going to pull out my bolt action .300 Win Mag, and use that.

Blend or Bleed: Will You Make the Right Choice?

When you don't stand out in a crowd, you've perfected the Grey Man technique. I live in a rural community. Lots of farming and ranching going on, so if bib overalls, a ranch jacket and a hat that promotes Massey Ferguson are what's needed to blend in, then that's what I wear. In this community...

How to Clean an AR-15 Magazine

I shoot Remington's Dry Lube into my metal magazines, they run better and as it dries there's no stickiness to attract dirt and debris. Though most of my metal mags are just set aside ICE, as I've gone to PMags for the most part. I would note, only the Gen 3 PMags have the dust cap. Gen 2's don't.

Sterling Submachine Gun: The Arsenal of Villainy

I've not had the opportunity to fire a Sterling, but did get a chance to fire its ugly step sister, the Sten years ago. I enjoyed the article, and its tongue in cheek reference to Bond, James Bond.

The Facts About New York’s Ammunition Law

Here in Commierado, you're required to be 18 with a valid Drivers License or State Issued ID, to purchase Rimfire or Centerfire Rifle Ammo. 21 years of age for Centerfore Pistol Ammo, though this is unevenly enforced and really relies more on Store Policy, as there is no required log of Ammo...

Did You Buy the Wrong Handgun?

I've the same problem, big guy (6'4") and really big hands (2XL glove is a tight fit), I own a sub compact, but prefer my full size gun and only carry the subcompact in the heat of the summer.
