I'm not sure of the wait times but I can say I ordered a 1911 in November from my local shop and was told coming from SA, the wait would be 4-12 weeks. The shop said once a serial number was created, it would be an additional week to arrive after that. Mine still has not been issued a number...

I have tried to figure out if there is a mechanical difference or quality difference between the mil spec and the Defend your Legacy series 1911. If it's just the grips, extra clip & case, why pay more for the mil spec? Please make me feel better about paying the extra money as I'm excited to...
