This was actually done. I like this video and he does a better job showing what happens than I explain:

That's true but sulfur is used for a reason and changing the formula shows why and how. Removing sulfur from black powder slows the velocity when using the same size powder

    BP Storage

Something I learned in my journey is you can make it without sulfur though it is significantly slower. Firing a .45 caliber ball from a specific flintlock (not mine, the video maker's) the rifle would send a ball (homemade powder with sulfur) downrange at around 1700 FPS and without at around...

    BP Storage

I'm following the advice of a retired ordinance officer and making my powder in very small quantities. The book I've read (and am rereading and using as my constant reference) suggests separating the ingredients and mixing small portions of two together... I'm explaining it terribly but I'll...

Not many. Perhaps 10 at the very most when all is said and done. I currently have two commercially made pounds at home

Does anyone make their own black powder? If you do, what do you store it in? I know glass is risky due to possible static build up

Are you ready for Biofire ?

$1500 for the basic standard pistol Mags are $50. Hardcase is $100. This thing looks as big as a hi point but requires batteries. I'll stick with long guns for home defense

    Breath

I'm listening to a book called Breath, which initially sounds boring but if you like science, biology and ways to make yourself better or just understand our own biology this is a great book. The author is James Nestor. If you listen to JRE, Joe has also spoken with him about this subject...

    Henry's New 9mm Carbine

10mm, in general, seems to be gaining more favor so perhaps that's why?

    Wannabe Woodsman

I'm alive and well! Been busy with a new job, newly engaged so I'm planning a wedding and planning some hunting trips this fall. I've also been working on my traditional woodworking (using axes and knives to make simple things like spoons) and restoring some older axes. Forgot how long it's...

    301 Stevens stock replacement

I've tried both Boyd's and Stocky's and they seem to build only rifle stocks or at least I couldn't find the model of my shotgun. I'd like to use wood. What I'll probably end up doing is building one out of a blank of wood if I can find a way to appropriately drill into it to attach it.

    301 Stevens stock replacement

I'm not a fan of polymer. I understand why it's so widely used but that doesn't mean I like it. So I want to replace my stock on my single shot but am having zero luck finding a replacement. I was wondering if anyone knew of some places to look but I'm guessing with the gun being such a cheap...
