Half a century ago, I took a crime report where an AH used one on a holdup. Ended up using it on the victim. Stuck in his jacket and victim stabbed suspect with it, sending latter to the hospital. Fun times when the American Indian Movement was active.
Sounds like a plan…bought a Pedersoli .32 percussion long rifle couple of years ago. Nice decorator, but also have the balls, caps, BP and wads, so couple of days from now be time to try her out.
I am in the same mold. Getting old and kids are not really interested in firearms. Have had my C&R license for close to 40 years, bought a lot, but now never use most of them and wife is on my case about moving them out.
I tend towards picket carry. Have a .380 Bodyguard which fits nicely in the front pocket of my trousers, spare clip in the other picket. Mind you, I live in a rural, kinda, area which has very low crime. Going to the big city, a Minuteman shoulder holster, with a hi-cap .CZ-40 in it.
Dang, you mean I should put a better scope on my Noble .22 lever gun? Right now it carries a 4x Tasso, but scope was made in Japan. Seems to work about as well as I do.
That was also during the time that 38 ammo was cheap and 9mm was expensive, opposite of today. Carried a Model 15 for 17 years then a 5904 when 9mm was authorized. 15 was more accurate, even if DAO. Glad I was able to buy it when I retired.
That was CHP, my department taught us to let them fall. That was also before speed loaders came around. There were a lot of videos out at that time about their tactics.
Not a rifle, but the Smith Model 38 Airweight Bodyguard, not to be confused with the semi-auto Bodyguard, has been with me since I purchased it in 1971 from Long Beach Uniform. Ditched the original rat tail grips, replaced them with Mustang grips and a few years ago with their current Sile...
The Ham’r at $1200 is a mite steep, but 300 BO might be an option. All very confusing. I feel bad with the lower just sitting in its box, all alone. It needs a friend.
Tried fitting my 6-6 frame in one…thought I would have to be buried in it! Bought a Volvo 1800 ES instead. Ex got it in the divorce, I got the VW Thing.
This cop was issued 158 grain Hi-speed ammo in the early 70s. I changed to 200 grain Super Police loads when off probation. Never in a shooting with them, but felt they worked better!
Nothing like investigating a case where a revolver was fired one or more times as a contact shot and the gases went underneath the skin, then expanded. Damn, I miss those days!
I have posted elsewhere on this, but I bought a Model 38 in 1971 when a recruit in the LAPD Academy. Carries it on and off for more than 50 years with no regrets. They work and work well.
I lived thru the Carter presidency! Massive inflation; we bitch about 6-7%, under Carter it was 12-14%. Try that for a mortgage! There was also the Desert One fiasco, and the fact that he seemed to have no idea what the Presidency was about. He was the worst President, in my opinion, until...
What is my intended purpose? Darned if I know! Probably just something to play with. At 80, I still get out and enjoy shooting. I gave up on getting drawn for a tag in Utah years ago. The .22 is interesting, but I have heard some not so good stories about them. Grendel is close to my 6.8...
In the spirit of this site, I bought a spare AR lower from Palmetto. With that out of the way, I need an upper. Already have 2 complete 5.56 rifles and a 6.8. So, for the next one do I go big with a 458 SOCOM, or small with a .234 Valkyrie, or some other caliber? Normally, I buy the ammo and...
