    Montana Mountain Lion

A number of years ago, I saw a photo of a dead Mountain Lion and a Bighorn Sheep, on Glacier Parks Going to the Sun Highway, near Logan Pass. It was early season and road crews were plowing snow. The only thing they could figure was the cat tried to ambush the sheep on a cliff, and over they...

Why Mils Are Superior to MOA For Long Range Precision

I looked up your scope. Your "click adjustments" are in MOA, i.e. one click is .25" adjustment at 100 yards. Standard USA stuff. As I sated, it's not much to get fluffed up about, unless you feel you HAVE to shoot in meters as opposed to yards. When I qualified in the military lo those many...

Why Mils Are Superior to MOA For Long Range Precision

European scopes are generally in metric adjustments. Swarovski Z8i comes to mind. Remember, if you are shooting a metric adjustable scope at yards, it can get confusing. Metric adjustments on scopes translate to adjustments in range in meters, not yards. MOA is familiar to most of us because we...

What’s a decent wait time for a delivery during these times ?

I just had some work done at Springfield on my M1A. It shipped back to me last Friday via FedEx. It is now in Havre, MT enroute. Why FedEx didn't ship it from Illinois to Portland, Oregon (my nearest FedEx hub) by air freight is kind of a head scratcher. Or why it's hitting every small town on...

Why Mils Are Superior to MOA For Long Range Precision

It's easier math, (and easier for a new shooter to grasp) but when you've been shooting MOA your entire life, that is a skill set in itself. Either way you scope it, when reading the wind at 1000, you had better have alot of practice at that. A missed call on windspeed is a miss at the target...

Keep waiting or get what I can get

I walked through a gun show a couple weekends ago, just to see what was happening. Plenty of handguns for sale, mainly dealers, and the prices were quite inflated. And folks were buying. Waiting chairs set up for BG checks to get done. As I browsed one table, I noticed a Colt Gold Cup Series 70...

    Loading Berry's Plated Handgun Bullets

I started out shooting Rainier Ballistics a number of years ago, then they went out of business. Switched to Barrys', and I find that product to be a much better bullet than Rainier. The 200 Gr SWC shoots great out of all my 1911's, particularly the Gold Cup. Regards, Bill

Keep waiting or get what I can get

It's that time again when I'm better stocked than the local firearms dealers. Not that I need anything, but wants will have to wait. One of the local Mom & Pop shops still has a fair selection of pistols, but no ammo ( they have a few boxes of 357 Sig). I have been looking for a SA 1911 in 9mm...

Need Help Finding Tool To Apply Laser Grip To .380 911

I believe those are Torx screws. You will need to get the bits by the same name. Purchase the "Tamper proof" style of bits. The tool departments of Lowes, Home Depot, even Harbor Freight should have them. Regards, Bill

M1A Scout - ding in every casing

The SKS / AK does the same thing. With steel cases. It's not an issue. If you handload, size the case, reload it, and shoot it again. Those little dings get fire formed out, and you'll likely get another little ding somewhere else on the case. You may want to determine if the case isn't getting...

Kamala Harris on Guns: Biden’s Pick for Vice President

One of my cousins back in Montana is a life long Democrat. He grew up in Anaconda, and that town, along with Butte, were mining towns with a strong union and Democrat ties. He and I can still talk politics, but I always give him a little reminder. "Mike, I'm living on the Left Coast now. The...

Kamala Harris on Guns: Biden’s Pick for Vice President

Harris is insanely ambitious, and that should give anybody pause. She will say and do anything to get elected to a powerful position. Historically, the VP pick is a nothing slot. A "Just in case" post. A tie vote in the Senate?? Got that covered. Something happens to the President? Ditto. We...

To Reload Or Not To Reload, That Is The Question

That is a good question. Let me start by saying I have not heard of RMR bullets. Generally, bullet weight and powder charges go hand in hand. From there, it can get a bit specialized. Many of the Hornady XTP bullets are what we would call a "truncated cone", meaning the side of the bullet is 90...

New gun owners: 2.5 million and counting with current events

Thought I'd entertain myself this weekend and go to a gun show. Two reasons. #1, see what they don't have. #2, see what the price is for what they DO have. It'll only cost me $5.00 for admission, so it'll be educational & entertaining. Regards, Bill

    Hunting elk in the Rockies

CWD is prevalent along the Montana / Wyoming border, and up north along the Hi-line, Canadian border. It has occurred in isolated areas elsewhere, but those are generally considered the hot spots. Montana FWP has alot of information on CWD on their website. Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks...

    Liberty Safes

I haven't looked at safes since I bought mine around 20 years ago. It's a Browning, made by Canon I believe. I spoke with a locksmith before I paid the money and asked him about the electronic locks. At that time, he recommended strongly against the electronic locks as they were unreliable, but...

Ok, here is a what if scenario......

I think HansGruber hit it. It would be my M28 S&W 4" barrel, 158 Gr JHP. It carries well in a shoulder rig, and I did take a Whitetail with it once, (get very close) so it's capable of putting food on the table. And it's a good defensive handgun. Regards, Bill
