    Black rifle almost had me

I didn't disparage the expensive guns, I said they were not for casual shooters that don't know the platform, the guns are only as good as the shooter. An off the shelf "budget" gun is deadlier in the hands of a skilled operator than a decked out LWRC or HK MA556A1 is with someone picking up...

Thought it was a pretty benign comment, not sure what you're arguing about nor why.

    Black rifle almost had me

As you know, it's such an incestuous industry and modular platform that Aero and a number of companies are all using the same parts mostly. There are only five or six barrel makers supplying them all as it is. Unless you're an elite shooter, collector or gun snob, an LWC or Daniel Defense is...

    Black rifle almost had me

Their QC rep took a hit around the pandemic, they once had a sterling rep but a few batches were not well machined. Once upon a time Aero was white labeled by a few brands, allegedly Stag being one.

They do have magpul grips and stocks now, the Sport 2 was just mil spec. But they do have treated Thompson Center barrels since Smith & Wesson owns Thompson Center. M&P BCGs are also well made despite not being full auto. And Ruger has been using magpul in their 556 line since the start.

And this brings in another good caveat to the AR market, so many have been made, that resell market ought to be explored for those that want to save some cash. The inverse is also that people that sell their ARs are not going to get top dollar for most of them.

Inflation has seen to it that you'll probably never be able to build a gun that you'd bee happy with for less than a basic M&P 15 or Ruger 556.

    New toy for Christmas

The gun in the foreground is an MG3 modified to permit use with an FRT. The MG34 is actually an XMG discontinued by a company called BRP, which is an upper designed around a 1944 marked MG34 to function with an AR lower. I do have a proper full 1943 marked MG34 being built that will accept an...

    New toy for Christmas

The XMG fits my Post war MG3 tripod like a glove…now I just have to wait for the 8mm Mauser ammo to arrive. Right now my FRT powered German twins are decorating the den.

And heavy, defeating the purpose of an intermediate cartridge in the AR platform for most.

    New toy for Christmas

It's whatever lower you put on it, an AR lower is the fire control. I will be using an FRT.

Anything is possible, doesn't seem to have been a best seller as is though.

    A New Gun Finally

I have one too, they're like a Glock with a better grip and better sights.

    New toy for Christmas

Splurged and bought the now collectible hard to find XMG, will use it with an FRT single shot lower and leave chambered in 8mm Mauser to animate back to life. This is my third MG belt fed, along with an MG3 and MG34 that are chambered in 308. My retirement is wrapped up in belt feds instead of...

    Gun sales slowing?

You're being needlessly argumentative and selective in your reading. The original post pointed out economic factors, it is you who pounced on Bruen. And you're wrong there too, all court battles post Bruen favor 2A. Yes, it's annoying courts will be necessary for a few battles, but that's the...

    Gun sales slowing?

It neutered them all in a court of law, fools may try to pass unconstitutional things but they aren't passing muster in court. Even Attorney General Bonta in California has backed down knowing the mag ban and AWB are not going to hold up.

ATF Officially Targeting the Pistol Brace

Good luck rounding up 20 million of these things. Not even their expanded ATF budget can prioritize that.

    Gun sales slowing?

The covid gun run is over, and Bruen neutered any gun grabbing politician schemes, so fear buying is subsiding and demand leveling off. Also we are entering a recession, buying guns outside of a fearful time is a commodity and leisure purchase reserved for expendable income.

ATF Officially Targeting the Pistol Brace

This will die the death of frames and receivers and soon bump stocks will join it, not a soul walk be charged and if they are the government will be embarrassed with a slam. dunk case against them in court.
