How much spare ammo do you all carry?

@HansGruber You make an EXTREMELY compelling argument, and part of the reason I've almost stopped carrying spare magazines with my XDM Compact. The odds of being in a standoff with lots of gunfire and needing more ammo is slim to none, and as you say, unless you KNOW who the active shooter is...

Peak Performance: The New XD-M Elite

They also used to offer us a choice of slides on most of the XD lineup - I wanted a bi-tone XDM at one point, but it seems SA has about stopped doing stainless slides as an option on anything other than 1911's.

    Elmer Fudd disarmed

Even my wife, sick in the hospital bed with cancer, thinks these guys are a bunch of pansies, to use a nice phrase. Enough of this political correctness.

    Review: Crossbreed Supertuck

I have a Crossbreed Supertuck in horse hide, and a Snapslide In black cow hide, both for the XDM. While my XDM 5.25 fits, for IWB I carry my XDM 3.8 Compact. I find it very comfortable to carry the XDM Compact IWB with the Supertuck. I usually carry between 3 and 5 o’clock. If I need a mag...

    electronic vs non

I keep a bag of 3M ear plugs with a NRR of 32dB in my range bag, and I've used those with the kids in the past when shooting outdoors. At the range I often double those up with some Walker Razor active ear muffs. The advantage of the electronic ones is they have a mic and a volume you can set...

    Glock’44: Tupperware goes Rimfire

I’ve got a Ruger Mark II that I bought when I was 23, and which will probably be used when it’s time to teach my grandkids who are not born yet to shoot. I’ll take a good metal pistol or revolver for longevity any day of the week. I’ll probably pick up a Wrangler if the economy and my job ever...

I joined back when the GOA was challenging the craziness in Virginia.

    XD-M Elite 3.8: Best EDC 9mm?

They discontinued the XDM Compact around the end of 2018, leading me to buy one right away, as it had been in my wish list. The XDM Compact is my favorite EDC, and I wish they would make it again, but I won’t be holding my breath.

    Holster Recommendation: XD-45 Compact

I was in the same boat with my XDM Compact. I ended up with two different Crossbreed holsters for the full size XDM that work perfectly with my XDM Compact 3.8". I really like the Supertuck, bought it for the XDM 3.8, and my compact just having a shortened grip frame worked just fine.

Nevada Judge Allows Suit to Move Forward Alleging AR-15s Should be Considered Machine Guns

Ridiculous. Under that ruling, ANY semiautomatic rifle could theoretically be considered a machine gun - as I am sure you could probably make a bump stock to fit your Ruger 10/22 or anything - not just an AR-15. We are moving more and more towards the future predicted by that great masterpiece...

    Do you remember this.......

Good old Trash 80 (TRS-80)! I would always leave them running little BASIC programs every time I was in a Radio Shack. Never had one though. My first computer of any sort was a TI-99/4A, with a cassette deck to store and load programs and data: While working at IBM, I progressed to an IBM...

    Do you remember this.......

Is that last one an Altair? I recognize everything else, but we were too poor for computers, video disk players or betamax! I bought a VCR for my parents house when I was in college, working at IBM toll free PC tech support for $12 an hour back in 1984.

    Jackson, MS suspends Open Carry.......

Yeah, that mayor can do all he wants, but as the state AG says - he lacks the authority to override a state constitutional amendment. I don't think the folks doing drive by shootings are paying attention to legal carry of legally obtained weapons. It's always the law abiding citizens who the...

    Disposing of Old Ammunition

I fired some 50 year old 22LR ammo recently, something bought by my father in law at an Otasco in the 70’s. I was using my Ruger Mark II - had 3 failure to feeds or stove pipes on the first 3 rounds, and got concerned, but then burned through a couple hundred rounds of it.

5 9mm Revolver Options Sized Right For Everyday Carry

And that is why a DA versus a SA revolver is recommended for self defense as well. With a SA revolver, it may be difficult to fire one handed for some folks, especially in the heat of the moment. And reloading takes time, one round at a time. DA - swing the cylinder out, eject the old, in with...

5 9mm Revolver Options Sized Right For Everyday Carry

The main attraction of a revolver is reliability and simplicity. No slide to rack, no safety to flip, etc. I can see the attraction for someone who is not as familiar or proficient with firearms. I would probably give one to my wife for example, if she wanted something by the bed while I am out...

    Your favorite Springfield

Most pistols are sitting in the "drawer" a lot here, with everyone being home-bound for the most part. I've been putting my XDM Compact on, or shoving my Ruger LCP into a pocket, for those necessary trips to the store about once a week, but that is about it.

9mm XDM discontinued? Replaced with "Elite" model?

You can use the old mags in the new XDM Elite if you remove the mag well. Not sure if the Elite mags will work in the old XDM. I know the base plate is different.

9mm XDM discontinued? Replaced with "Elite" model?

Well, that is likely why it is removable then. Removing it also lets you use your existing 19 round mags.
