    Prodigy mags available

We all know they're hard to find, so just a heads up, the Mag Shack has either 20 or 26 round Prodigy mags in stock for $44.98. Get 'em while you can.

    Question for Prodigy owners

I know some have had problems with their new Prodigys while many have been relatively perfect from the beginning. Personally my Prodigy was extremely tight when new to where sometimes the slide would hang up, mostly on the disconnector. All I've really done to mine was to lightly polish the...

    Dawson Precision Magwell for Prodigy

I simply used a dab of the gun grease I usually use and applied it to the rear inside edges of the mag well and to the grip where they contact. I don't know if it really made a difference, but I thought that it might reduce friction and help the two parts go together easier. Any type of gun...

What Are The Top 5 Gun On Your Buy List For 2023?

In no particular order: 1) Sig Sauer P226 X5 2) Staccato P 3) FN 510 4) Marlin 1895 GBL Guide Gun 5) Dan Wesson DWX 6) CZ Tactical Sport 2 Orange I keep saying that I'm done, but for some reason the list keeps growing. I did knock one off the list this morning though, I ordered the Sig X5...

    First Look: Canik SFx Rival-S

Thanks for the honest review of the Competitor. It always helps to hear someone who has experience with a particular model and has been able to shoot it. I'm still interested in it but I may just move it down a couple of notches on the list and look at some of the more desirable models. It was...

    First Look: Canik SFx Rival-S

dajogejr, glad to hear that the Rival S is coming around. Canik is one brand that I pretty much glossed over for a long while but after hearing so much good said about it, I finally broke down and bought the Rival Darkside. It's been a pleasure to shoot. Canik in general is one brand that seems...

First Look: Springfield 1911 DS Prodigy 9mm

Don't mean to butt in here, but I've run into that problem a few times in the past. If you want another option, I've found that many hardware shops carry a pretty good screw assortment. My neighborhood Ace Hardware has saved me the wait associated with having to order replacement screws a couple...

Springfield Prodigy Torture Test: Did It Survive 10K Rounds?

I'm not saying it needs a ton of oil, but it does run better if it is well lubed. It's just the nature of the beast. Compare a 1911 style pistol to the more modern Glock style that we see today. The Glock has generally a lighter slide compared to the 1911 style, while the Glock style frame has...

    First Look: Canik SFx Rival-S

I've got the original Rival Darkside and it is one of the most impressive striker fired pistols I've seen to date. The trigger is amazing. Looking forward to dajogejr's review. I'd like to pick up the Rival S because of the all metal construction but can't decide if it's worth it since I...

Springfield Prodigy Torture Test: Did It Survive 10K Rounds?

"This has already been discussed ad nauseum elsewhere on this forum. But suffice to say that many of the so-called "issues" can be attributed to, 1) magazine/feeding issues, which were/are a legit problem with the mags that should be addressed, 2) a recoil spring on the 5" model that probably...

First Look: Springfield 1911 DS Prodigy 9mm

Just a follow up on your request. I took the Prodigy out to the range today and put 220 error free rounds through it. Got it pretty dirty and not a hint of a problem. That makes a total of 420 perfect rounds so far for me. Still slick a snot although on occasion I can still slightly feel the...

    Dawson Precision Magwell for Prodigy

It does seem strange that Springfield doesn't offer accessories for the Prodigy, but then they did seem to go to great effort in order to closely copy the Staccato. It is such a new model right now, perhaps they eventually will once production catches up. Even the polymer grip module made for...

    Dawson Precision Magwell for Prodigy

I like mine. I question just how effective it is as a magwell because it widens the opening but IMO isn't deep enough to funnel the mags in. Plus it leaves a ledge inside the opening and isn't blended in enough. But it does look great and helps to get a better grip.

First Look: Springfield 1911 DS Prodigy 9mm

Well I got out my trusty Dremel and with a soft pointy polishing bit and a bit of Mothers aluminum polishing compound I worked on my Prodigy. Careful not to remove any material I worked on the radius at the front of the flat that the disconnector slides on. The radius is only on the very top...

First Look: Springfield 1911 DS Prodigy 9mm

No, it isn't, but neither was the one in the video, but it's under $1500. If you want all the goodies its gonna cost a bit more probably. I would prefer the SAS II TAC in black with the optic cut.

    Dawson Precision Magwell for Prodigy

None whatsoever. Just hook the front of the magwell on the grip and push it up in the back while trying to align it to the rear of the grip. It will be tight. You can try to use your hand to tap it into place, but in the end you will probably need a few taps with a rubber mallet to push it...

    Red Dot for the 1911DS

I recently purchased a new 4.25" Prodigy. I generally like to stick with one brand (like using Jeep accessories on Jeeps) so when I ordered my Prodigy I thought it would be good to stick with SA accessories in choosing a red dot, and I ordered the model with the Hex Dragon fly even though it...

    Dawson Precision Magwell for Prodigy

I have to admit, there are a lot of very knowledgeable people and good information on this forum. Just installed the Dawson Precision magwell on my new Prodigy today. It went on without a hitch. I just hope I never have to remove it. Thank you xdman for the tip.
