⚠️ PUBLIC WARNING ⚠️ Aggressive behavior and profanity will not be tolerated.

I uttered a "what the hell" in a recent post. I will punish myself. You needn't fear that happening again.

    H.R. 2337; The american-communists-gun-confiscation-bill

Unfortunately, my congressman, and both senators, are radical leftists who love this kind of stuff. I have written to them many times. They couldn't care less what I think. They are immune to logic and reason.

How Much Knife Do You Really Need...

When I start browsing for knives, I suddenly realize that I need all of them. Yet I already have knives capable of opening even the largest cardboard box.

    Daffy Zone…..

I was going to contribute some wisdom to the discussion. But I guess it's all been said.

Why debate? Just shoot them with both!

Formative book of my youth - Woodcraft and Camping

I was similarly impacted by "At Home In the Woods" by Bradford Angier. It wasn't a how-to book, but a biographical story of a couple who homesteaded along the Peace River in British Columbia. I always aspired to be a hermit in a log cabin in the woods. I failed.

Should training be mandatory? Answer: No!

I know it's pointless to bang my head against this wall, but what the hell. I'm not ignoring a problem. I am actively looking for evidence of it, and not finding it. You are asserting there is, or will be, a problem without citing evidence of it. I don't "fear the solution might be used to...

Should training be mandatory? Answer: No!

    And we're the conspiracy theorists?

Should training be mandatory? Answer: No!

The manner that "maintains safety for everyone" is to vigilantly defend against infringements against our right of self defense. We have considered the issue. That's why we reject mandatory training. You are insisting on a solution to a non-existent problem, and an open door to serious...

Should training be mandatory? Answer: No!

Sorry. I'm fairly new and haven't read a lot on this topic here. Not trying to flog a dead horse. Just responding to some things I saw, and hoping to be pursuasive. Feel free to ignore.

Should training be mandatory? Answer: No!

Well, I wanted to start a conversation, and it looks like I did. Now for the second part of why I oppose mandatory training. Several of you have expressed a fear that new, untrained gun owners will be a danger to everyone if they carry their guns around. You propose training as the solution...

Should training be mandatory? Answer: No!

I'm not referring to the Bible, of course, but to the Declaration of Independence, which articulates the foundational principles of our nation. We have the right to our lives. Therefore, we have the right to protect our lives from danger (within a reasonable framework of law and order)...

Should training be mandatory? Answer: No!

A very good point, which I had not considered. Thank you. I guess my response is that hunting is a regulated recreational activity, whereas basic self defense is an "unalienable right" with which we are endowed by our creator. I think different standards apply.

Should training be mandatory? Answer: No!

In another thread regarding open carry, a member voiced concerns that more people carrying would lead to more accidents. In the end, he concluded, "I do see a need for initial safety training to be mandated." I thought this deserved a new thread unto itself. I am against mandatory training...

Driving with a Handgun: Best Practices

I think it's funny to have all this discussion over something I never considered to be an issue. I put on my gun (strong side OWB). I get in the car and drive. I can still draw it when seated, although not as easily as standing, but that's to be expected. The practice of removing/replacing...

    Concealed vs. Open

Yes, that sounds like a serious problem except that it never happens. Let us practice the Golden Rule. If you want to carry your gun, you have to let others carry theirs. Let's assume the best of each other, rather than the worst, and stop worrying. No fearful prediction of the gun control...

    Concealed vs. Open

I think we have conducted the experiment thoroughly enough to conclude there is nothing to worry about. In my state of Washington, open carry is not prohibited, we have "shall issue" for concealed pistol permits, and there is no training requirement. This has been the case for many, many...

A Question to Ponder on Miscreant Control

I think the best we can do for our cause is to lead by example. We must be safe, sane, sober, moral, reasonable, responsible people. Among people who know me, I am a nice guy. I'm calm, generous, polite and have a smile for everyone I meet. I also carry a gun. Most of them have no idea, but...

    Concealed vs. Open

There really isn't any upside to open carry. I have noticed open carriers in my town two or three times. No one bothered them that I saw. But why expose yourself that way? Is there any advantage in exchange for the risk of being targeted or having your gun grabbed? I don't think so...
