The Walther PPK/S in .32 ACP: The Bond Choice

I’m not much of a fan of the PP series, yet seem to have owned a few along the way. One that stands out is one of those surplussed .32 PPs that were pretty common maybe 25 years ago. It was a very accurate pistol! And I mean “accurate” in two ways the word is usually used: It shot nice...

    Thoughts on 25 acp???

It was around 1980 when I saw a .25 ACP in a ‘70s gun magazine that I have never forgotten. I want one to this very day, and I’m sure I always will. Someone with skill had made a functional 1/2 scale Thompson SMG chambered in .25 ACP. That has to be one of the most useless, yet fascinating...

“Shipping label created” doesn’t tell me much.

Convair B-58 Hustler — The Strategic Bomber Built to End the World

And a new one came out practically every couple of days!

Convair B-58 Hustler — The Strategic Bomber Built to End the World

Thanks. I watched that one right before the other one. Pretty neat.

Convair B-58 Hustler — The Strategic Bomber Built to End the World

I am watching an interesting 45 minute YouTube video on the B-58 that disputes some of the commonly-known negative “facts” about the plane. The host interviews a retired colonel who flew as a navigator on B-58s. 1- The B-58 cost more to operate than the B-52 by a factor of two or three. The...

Convair B-58 Hustler — The Strategic Bomber Built to End the World

I had a tiny toy B-58, maybe 1/300th or 350th scale. Even that small, it looked so screaming fast.

Convair B-58 Hustler — The Strategic Bomber Built to End the World

One of many airplanes I simply love. There were some goofy things about them (the need for an external weapons pod, the clamshell crew escape pods) but there was nothing like them. There still isn’t, aside from the B-1, and only then in the original form. One of our lab instructors at A&P...

Why Every Handgun Owner Should Own a Pistol Caliber Carbine

I gripe about them, and say things like “If I’m bothering with carrying a rifle it might as well be in a rifle caliber”, but the truth is I have a few. Enough to cover the usual calibers. I reluctantly admit to seeing some points to them. I always keep a long gun in my vehicle, usually a...

    bun broker

I’ve bought quite a few off BunGunBroker. I like to buy local, but I could spend years looking for something in all the shops and shows to find one, when a quick search on GB will show me dozens. And that’s all I buy off there; things I can’t walk into the local gunshop(s) and find. Besides...

Gunbroker Sako L579 Forester .243, made in 1965. Pretty blue-worn, but that only means it was a good rifle for someone…right???

    why do you profess

I liked, and still like, the magnificent grip. And the slim slide when it comes to IWB. I’d still be carrying one now if someone would make one RDS-ready. I can send one off, but don’t have any that I should be grinding on. I might anyway. Damned Mr Magoo eyes.

    why do you profess

I'll throw something out there to think about. Some people don't really choose a cartridge; they choose the gun and the cartridge comes with it. Example: I love the Browning HiPower. I hated the 9mm cartridge for years, but I had always liked the BHP. After buying one and shooting it, I found...

What have you bought firearms related in the last 48 hours?

A PPC revolver made on a S&W 14-3. I have no idea what I need with a PPC gun, but I've wanted one for a while. No, I can't explain why I wanted one either.

Now that it’s dropped down to 90, I’m sitting in the backyard with all my friends.

    The art of off-hand shots

No sling because it isn’t allowed in the Standing position. In the Service Rifle class, it still must be attached to the rifle in Standing, but can’t be used as a shooting aid. If we could, we would.

    I don’t have it yet, but I “won” and paid for a 1952 Marlin 336SC .30-30.
