    9mm revolvers

Most 9mms I’ve slugged the bore on ran closer to .357”. Only one was .355”, a Sig P210. That made me wonder if that’s the source of the 9mm’s reputation for poor cast bullet accuracy. If sizing bullets to the .355 everything and everybody says is correct, and the bore is .357 (or more)...

    40 cal?

Since I made this post, I’ve been thinking about the .40 ammo I still have. I don’t have a ton of it, but at the rate I’m going, it’s about 136 lifetime’s worth. I’m not sure how or why I accumulated so much, but I did. I’ve thought about getting a .40 barrel, lighter recoil spring, and a...

    Whatcha Watching?

Just finished the Japanese Grand Prix. I do love that track. I saw a proposed partial schedule for next year. They may open with Australia next year, then Japan, then China. I don’t know if it will happen that way, but it beats starting in the Mideast. Or going there at all.

Dillon sending parts 5 minutes after request

I always have to tell my Dillon story. After a couple of moves, I lost a small part to my 550B. This was 20+ years ago, so I don’t even remember what part it was now. I called Dillon to order a new one. Even though their “No BS Warranty” was well-known then, I was fully expecting to pay for...

What are you doing right now??

I’m not really an Andretti fan, but I wish they had been allowed entry into F1. I hope that snub gave GM/Cadillac a Ford v. Ferrari type of push, making them come at F1 that much harder. GM sounds like they are proceeding full speed ahead with plans.

    Do you agree

I’ll have to agree with the author that the Luger might be the most recognizable handgun. Or at least it was. Everybody knew a Luger when they saw it, and they knew it represented “sinister”. Maybe not so much anymore. Across the years, Colt SAA probably has it beat. Everybody has known...

    40 cal?

I tried several .40s when it was getting attention, giving it more than a fair chance. The only two that shot very well at all were a CZ75B and a Browning HiPower. The BHP is the only .40 I’ve kept. Partially because it’s a BHP and I can’t let them go, and partially because of it being a...

What are you doing right now??

Not Talyn, but I keep myself in misery by rooting for Hulkenberg, Magnussen, and Sargeant. It isn’t easy, but Logan is the only American driver and Haas is the closest to a US team. (I know, they claim to be a U.S. team.) But that was a few hours ago. What am I doing now? Nursing a migraine...

Steyr AUG: Five Things You Didn’t Know About It

Now they have a rail. No optic except for those choosing nostalgia: they had a 40th anniversary model with the old style optic and Steyr sells a couple of rail-mounted optics that sort of resemble the old optic. The safety on mine and others I’ve tried works smoothly and (mostly) quietly. A...

Steyr AUG: Five Things You Didn’t Know About It

I used to hate the AUG. I thought bullpups were silly guns, and with the AUG being the best-known bullpup, that made them the most silly gun. They offered absolutely nothing to me except a handsome movie appearance. And I already had that myself. Then I was handed one in a gun shop. I...

    “You Can’t Fake The G’s”

I liked “Rush” OK. Not great by any means, but OK. Lots of period cars and other things. Sadly, having one of the cliched “downshift and floor it in anger” bits cost it several points in my book. It always gets some love but I never cared for “Grand Prix”, though I suppose it was the best...

Qualify? Listed on your permit? Damn, I hope I never have to deal with those kinds of things.

The Story of the Legendary General George S. Patton

That’s what I was going to mention. Don’t forget Douglas MacArthur, who, as Chief of Staff of the Army, changed into his service uniform so he could go down and lead the attack, not to mention carry it on across the river after the president ordered it halted.

    NRA Board of Directors Election

Yes, that’s him. Gladly, that apple didn’t fall far from the tree. I’ll agree with everything he says here, except for one thing: The part about voting for ONLY those four. Add Buzz Mills (owner of Gunsite) to that list. Buzz is a current board member up for reelection, and he’s been...

For discussion - what is it about Glock Culture.....?

I think that’s a lot of it. New gun buyers. I used to hear from people who had never owned, or even shot, a gun before: “I want to get a 9mm”. I always thought that was pretty specific . Not just “get a gun”, but “get a 9mm”. Over time, this has become “I want to get a Glock”. Even more...

The Gun guy (Guy Reliord WIBC Indianapolis)

I live in the area and listen to Guy Relford when I can. He also does an Indiana Gun Law class that I’ve taken. It’s really good.

For discussion - what is it about Glock Culture.....?

The Glock Culture has come about because it’s a Glock world. Glocks are everywhere. Ask a gunshop what sells, and they will say Sig P365s and Glocks. A Glock has been the first, and often the only, gun of a huge amount of people. They’ve owned the LE market for maybe three decades. There...

    Am I the only one

I think what a lot of people have, whether they realize it or not, is not a Bug Out bag but a Get Home bag. And that makes sense pretty much anywhere.
