    PC Carbine & Backpack Guns

I've thought about making my SAINT rifle a "backpack gun" by simply breaking it down into its upper and lower parts. It gets really short that way. Its a 223 and not a PC gun, I admit. I just need to find a bag that will fit that set up.

    Taffin Tests Springfield 1911s

I've read Taffin and American Handgunner for years, so I really enjoyed this piece. Glad to see that The Armory Life and AH are doing some collaboration! Great piece!

CCW reciprocity and travel: Do you research it?

I don't know about you all, but I definitely dig into this anytime I'm doing a long trip so I know where I can and can't carry. In fact, I try to make my travel work with where I can CCW carry through reciprocity laws. How about you all?

    Don't laugh — katana question

I have seen that video ... Who would've thought a home shopping channel one would be junk? :)

    Show off your 1911

That must work something like the old LDA systems in the Para Ordnance guns, where the mainspring would get cocked by the cycling of the slide, but the hammer would be "at rest" and give you a long, light DA pull?

.22 for concealed carry, are you kidding me?

Agreed! I've looked at one at the local gun shop and was really impressed by how well made they are. But not sure how useful they are.

    My 2019 Springfield Armory pistols

I really want a lightweight full size 1911, so I really like that Operator. I'd really like one without the light rail, but still cool. Seems like a great carry gun. J-doo, do you carry that one? If so, how is it? Comfortable? What holster do you use?

    Milling 1911 for red dot

If you ask me, I think that we are going to be seeing this option as "standard" from a lot manufacturers verysoon. Springfield has this one (https://www.springfield-armory.com/products/1911-trp-10mm-rmr/#PC9610RMR18), and of course there's the Hellcat (which really set a new standard on optics...

    Does Ayoob Hate the XD?

Agreed. I've read his stuff since I was a kid, and if he says something is good, I know it is. The kicker is, I already knew the XD was a solid gun. All you have to do is tear down a Gen1 XD "service" pistol and look at the machining on the inside of the slide. These guns are beautifully made...

    Hellcat EDC?

Man, that's like carrying a Browning HiPower in pocket carry mode with a spare mag. I love modern technology!

    Comfort in a holster

I'll take a look at the Alien Gear one. I've read a lot of good things about them but need to find one in a store around here so I can take a close look at it.

Why You Need an AR for Home Defense

Great piece! I could not agree more. A 5.56 could be a really effective home defense gun. But, I do think maneuvering with it indoors could be tough (the guy in the video did address that issue), and man would it be loud! But, it would definitely stop an attacker.

What can you tell me about Muzzle Brakes?

I've read that the AK-74 muzzle brake the Soviets (and now Russians) use(d) really increased the sound on the guns to the point that it was causing serious hearing damage to their troops. I don't shoot enough without hearing protection on to speak to it.

    Don't laugh — katana question

Thanks for the advice, gang. I'll pick up a copy of that book and do some more digging. If anyone has some hands-on experience with the Ronin swords, please chime in!

    Don't laugh — katana question

Poor guy from the karate class! And no need to apologize for the length of the response — this is exactly what I wanted. Any suggestions on books I should get? As far as needs go, I want one for display now, but one that could stand up to some "backyard cutting" if I want to do some training...

    Don't laugh — katana question

Of course! I'm going to sling it over my back and carry it every day :) Or, I'm just being a being a blade dork and simply want one! I've always had a weakness for these, and have decided I'm going to get one ... eventually.

    Don't laugh — katana question

Alright, I'm probably just asking for abuse here, but I want to buy a Katana (I've always loved the graceful curvature of the blades), but am not sure what to get. Anyone know anything about these? I know enough to know that a "real" Japanese one would be many thousands of dollars, so I'm...

    Are you flinching

I saw an interesting bit with Rob Leatham where he put a fired case on the muzzle end of the slide of his pistol and did dry fire practice. It seems to a be a great (and simple) way to practice not disturbing your sight alignment while you are pulling trigger.
