Best .380 ACP Self Defense Ammo for Pocket Carry

I think some of us derailed the discussion of ammo with discussion of various pistols. Sorry about that! I re-read the original post, and of those two pistols mentioned, I like the 911 best. For ammo though, while I stand by Federal and Hornady, today was the first time I realized there were...

Best .380 ACP Self Defense Ammo for Pocket Carry

I think that the Bodyguard may be a slightly easier shooting gun than the LCP due to the extra 3 ounces or so off mass. The grip seems a little wider too. The LCP may be slightly easier to conceal, as it is a little thinner and more rounded, but all in all, they are very similar in size. The...

    9119 Ammo Recommendations

The 911 in 9mm has a 3" barrel. Sure, its short, but no shorter than many other small 9mm pistols. Nothing wrong with the Sig ammo designed for short barrels, but I imagine the Hornady Critical Defense or Federal Hydra-shock or others that I've carried with my XDM 3.8" will work well in your 3" 911.

Best .380 ACP Self Defense Ammo for Pocket Carry

That is the negative comment I've seen more than once about the S&W Bodyguard - it has a tendency to "bite". I agree that the LCP and LCP II are pretty snappy shooting guns - that is why my daughter is carrying the LC380. For me though, I can manage the LCP. I don't shoot it for fun - I only...

Best .380 ACP Self Defense Ammo for Pocket Carry

For 380acp ammo, over the past 10 years, I've been carrying Federal Hydrashock, and more recently purchased Hornady Critical Defense for my daughter to carry.

Best .380 ACP Self Defense Ammo for Pocket Carry

Handgunhero lets you compare sizes on different handguns - unfortunately they do not have the Bodyguard 380 in the list. https://www.handgunhero.com/compare/smith-wesson-m-p-380-shield-ez-vs-ruger-lc380

Best .380 ACP Self Defense Ammo for Pocket Carry

I looked at the S&W Bodyguard .380 in the past, and have not heard too many good reviews of it to be honest. If size permits, I would consider the S&W EZ Shield .380, and if not, the Ruger LC380, and the Ruger LCP and LCP II as well. I carry a Ruger LCP with Lasermax in a Desantis Superfly...

    Warranty Service Issues?

Yeah, I wouldn’t want to see that either. I can see where it’s not enough to harm function, but annoying. I’ll keep an eye out for it on my two XDM’s.

    Warranty Service Issues?

So, what kind of "slide" issue led to you sending it in to begin with? Just curious, since I've got two XDM's in 9mm....

    Apple or Droid?

Apple here, mostly as it syncs my data seamlessly across tablet/phone/desktop/laptop. As a software developer, the Mac gave me the ability to develop for Mac/Windows/Linux/Android/iOS all on one laptop. As an app developer, I have both Android and Apple mobile devices (phones and tablets) for...

    Range Session

I used to go with a 3-4 different guns each trip. Lately I just focus on one each time, and work on groupings at different distances with that one, versus bouncing around from pistol to pistol.

    Ok, ammo, how much.......

I try to keep 4-5 boxes of ‘practice’ ammo on hand for all calibers, and a couple 350-500 round boxes of 22. Got a big stockpile of 12 gauge bird shot, mostly because I didn’t go bird hunting last fall. Carry ammo I probably have 2 boxes for each gun.

    Your first Springfield......

My first was an XDM 5.25” in 9mm a couple of years ago, and I liked it so much I later got the XDM Compact in 9mm for concealed carry.

Any Monkey can clean a gun.

I used Hoppes for 30 years, then last year switched to Ballistol and am glad I did. Smell is so much better that if I want to clean on the kitchen table I can, although I usually do it on my workbench in the garage. The wife would chase me out of the house when I was using the Hoppes inside.

TEXASforLIFE, is something wrong with your computer/phone/tablet, or are you just trying to be cute?

    When you were growing up.....

THIS! ^^^^ Wiley Coyote and the Road Runner. Elmer Fudd versus Bugs Bunny. Daffy Duck versus the Martian. Another would be the original Tom & Jerry, and I think that is the one which sometimes featured his cousin from out of town, Speedy Gonzales. I cut the cord a couple of years ago, and was...

    EDC at Home

If I am putting my wallet in my pocket, at the very least, I drop a Ruger LCP into my pocket, in the Desantis pocket holster it lives in. I have rifles and better handguns around the house, but don't honestly expect to ever need them. I keep my XDM next to the bed, so its always available at...

    The 5.7

Those type rounds with expansion will take care of any concerns over using a pistol like the new Ruger for CCW I would think.

    The 5.7

I think the question is what are you FIRING the round from? A rifle or a pistol? The ballistics for the 5.7x28mm is not even comparable to the 10mm. While the velocity is higher for 5.7x28 from a service pistol length barrel, the lightweight 40 to 55 grain bullet has so much less mass than a...

AR builds -- best places to get parts?

Yeah... that is my concern. I am thinking of picking up the Anderson lower locally, then ordering the rest of what I need from PSA. Cost is probably comparable to a Ruger AR-556 though, so still on the fence about it.
