Testing the Springfield Armory Vickers Tactical 1911

Looks like a nice 1911. The price is not too bad, maybe slightly high. For concealed carry we can skip the accolades for grabbing those mags the base plates are too damn big. I like that it has a single side safety and no rail. If I was in the market for another 1911 I would check the "street"...

What Do You Do? Cops and CCW

Here in SC I have only been stopped twice. When stopped you hand them your DL, Registration, insurance card, and CWP. One stop was a checkpoint with no real reason and the LEO didn't care about the gun. The second I was given a warning about speeding and asked where and what I was carrying.

Is Your State Among the Top-5 Gun Buyers In 2020?

Here in SC we have so many already we probably did not need mass buying. Be assured it is a safe state. The largest county, Horry, where Myrtle Beach is just voted itself a 2nd Amendment Sanctuary County. More will follow in SC.

    NEWBIE NEEDS ADVISE

I agree with there is no "one stop myth" well unless you carry a S&W .500 Magnum. Also not a fan of revolvers. Not easy to learn on. Difficult DA trigger and recoil will prevent you from looking forward to practice. I have never seen the terrible jump of the .40 and kinda like the round. If you...

Review: Kimber RAPIDE Special Edition 1911

Even nicer would be if Kimber could start shipping guns. I ordered an Aegis Pro 9mm 1911 in early Feb. Lot's of advertisement but as far as I know NO GUNs. I do not like doing business with Gunbroker.

    NEWBIE NEEDS ADVISE

A lot of good replies here. I am not a big fan of revolvers especially small ones. J Frames give you a significant recoil and can lead to you not wanting to practice and developing a flinch. A larger say .357 will work and you can practice with .38 special but even a worked on DA/SA revolver...

    Handgun Most Recommended?

Lot's of interesting replies. First I rarely recommend a J Frame. The recoil is NOT fun and if you do not enjoy shooting you will not practice and if you do not practice well you know the rest. Now the assumption is we are talking about new or fairly new gun owners. For that reason I also stay...

To Reload Or Not To Reload, That Is The Question

First I will say I DO NOT reload for self defense. But second someone needs to explain to me how it would ever come up. You clean and polish your brass, you load your bullet and you shoot it. Now even if your gun is taken into custody there is name brand brass of course. I have never heard of...

    Best 3 “combat” handguns

I have a P30 and a VP9. I really like the trigger on the VP9 although I prefer a hammer. A word of caution if you plan to replace the sights most manufacturer's while saying that their sights work for the VP9 do not take into account the cut for the new VP9 with optic ready and the rear sight...

    Magazine loader

Never used a magazine loader before I bought a P365. I broke two cheap ones I had laying around that came with guns on the P365. Then I bought an Uplula. Then I bought a second one in case something happens to the first one. Now I use it on all my mags except .45's.

Rugged and Very Accurate: Springfield Armory’s Saint AR-15 Pistol

Mine is a blast to shoot. It does not have that great of a flash but is loud. I also have a brace that is not as cool that came with the gun.

    Best 3 “combat” handguns

While I love shooting the 1911 and probably shoot it best I prefer a H&K or Sig for what most would consider "combat" use. I think they can be abused more, definitely require less maintenance, and are less ammo finicky.

What Happened to the .357 Sig

Well first of all the .357 Sig is a great round but expensive and difficult to reload. You also can just buy a .357 barrel for your .40 Sig and still use the same mags and you now have a .357 Sig handgun no gun smithing needed.

    Taurus G3C 9mm FTF issue

I have been reading all these posts about the problems with the Taurus and the HST and I think your conclusion is best. Just don't use HST. There are plenty of other good self defense rounds. I do use HST in my H&K's but they seem to work with everything. I would not use them in my P365 because...

How to Choose the Right Concealed Handgun Carry Position

I like around 2:00. I can comfortably carry a large handgun as well as drive with it. I really like the show NCIS L.A. especially how their Sig's magically appear from the SOB when wearing skin tight Tee Shirts.

Bump in the Night - Lesson Learned

My children growing up knew not to touch my guns and listened. Things are different now and not sure I would trust most kids to listen. We have sensor lights outside. Inside my wife likes electric candles in the windows. They give off a nice low light so it is never really dark in any room. A...

    FTF JHP 9mm

With no feed ramp on .45 1911's the JHP's were hanging up when the gun was cycling. The heavier mag spring pushed the cartridge in quicker leaving less time for it to hang up. Logical or not it worked.

    FTF JHP 9mm

BTW, Target Sports usually has some 9mm self defense ammo available, Federal and not a bad price for the 50 round box.

.380 vs 9mm: Reasons to Consider the Smaller Nine

I don't see a huge difference in recoil. Forgetting about these weird times now the price difference of ammo was better for 9mm not to mention your selection.

    FTF JHP 9mm

I was anal about using JHP's in competition. I handloaded them so the cost was minimal. My Kimber Raptor was flawless with FMJ but a pain with JHP. I only use Wilson mags since Kimber mags are well . . . . Anyway I solved the problem by replacing the mag springs with Wolfe. The stronger mag...
