Springfield Prodigy Torture Test: Did It Survive 10K Rounds?

And by widespread…you mean the ones you’ve personally experienced and those you’ve read about on forums, not the thousands upon thousands that are out there without issue? You mean that widespread? Like I’ve said before, for every 1 issue you read about on the inter webs, there’s hundreds...

    Any issues with the Prodigy?

I’ve had a serious problem with mine for a couple months now… it just keeps firing bullets. Have someone else shoot it….and start in close. See if it groups well. Mine is one of the most accurate and easy pistols I have to shoot..

    First Look: Canik SFx Rival-S

Another 150 down range tonight. For me.. flawless. Not one single issue. Let my wife shoot it for the first time, 2-3 rounds in each mag, jam. Clear, fire. Next mag, jam. Couldn’t tell if it was grip, most likely limp wrist…but she’s got pretty good form. She shot 200 rounds down range with...

    First Look: Canik SFx Rival-S

The big difference is this…and it’s huge. The Competitor is aluminum frame. Just a notch up from polymer, but…stiffer nonetheless. The Rival is steel… much heavier than Polymer or Aluminum. I think bare bones the Canik S is 42.7 ounces. I think the competitor is 29. You can feel the heft...

RLB, if I’m being honest… having the Canik Steel now, shooting it along side my Competitor.. if I did all over, I’d leave the competitor at the store. But as is…it came up first, I’ve always liked M&Ps, shot them well. Carried a compact for a long time. The only thing I like better about the...

Who all have sent their PRODIGY in to SA ? Results ?

You can thank the loaded chamber indicator for that one… If you think the Prodigy is bad, you should shoot my new Smith and Wesson Competitor…it’s horrid. To the point I’m thinking of switching from a Holosun 407C to a Trijicon SRO due to the hood/shroud….

Who all have sent their PRODIGY in to SA ? Results ?

Two things…one regarding the trigger. I watched an Atlas video and after about 1/2 hour of bend, test, bend, test, I have a nice clean 3lb pull, good but not over active wall and clean break. It’s a little touchy…but, that comes down to proper technique, if you’re lazy, you may squeeze off a...

Who all have sent their PRODIGY in to SA ? Results ?

Don’t fix what ain’t broke. Mine was bad out of the box… 2 weeks later came back perfect and I’m at/around 1400ish or so rounds since, zero issues. Have not had the guide rod come loose even after 300 round range sessions. I do want the 10-8 performance take down lever…and possibly the Atlas...

    First Look: Canik SFx Rival-S

RLB, I hear ya. In the past 2 months I’ve bought a Prodigy (4.25), S&W Competitor and now this Canik. I’m done…LOL <just in case wife looks over shoulder…lol> I’ve had my Sig X5 Legion for just over a year. Originally, I put the Apex kit in it. Good, not great but good. I then sought out...

    First Look: Canik SFx Rival-S

Gotcha.. I’m going to keep on running it as is for now. The last 5 mags of 10 rounds it ripped through them, a few normal shots, then a few mags of double taps. I never owned a plastic frame, shot my friends..but this steel frame is just unreal. The trigger in the Canik is hands down the best...

Interesting Belt Fed. My reloads are 130 power factor and the Blazer ammo is 135. Is there a PF that the weaker recoil spring is recommended for?

So, I had a few growing pains with mine…Rival S. Put roughly 150 rounds down range yesterday. To start, when I took it home Saturday I field stripped and cleaned/lubed it. First 50 rounds, 5 to 6 FTE from either mag I used. Next 50, maybe 2. Last 50, well oiled machine, just kept going. 2-3...

Thanks RLB! I gotta be honest, I think I may just leave mine alone for now…but when I get bored, I’ll get to a little clean up

    First Look: Canik SFx Rival-S

I recently picked up a S&W Competitor just because I wanted it..and always had M&Ps in the past. It’s a nice pistol. I just put in an Overwatch trigger and comp sear in it. The factory take up was a mile long. With the new kit, the trigger is very, very close to the Canik Rival S out of the...

Springfield Prodigy Torture Test: Did It Survive 10K Rounds?

Well said Kat We can discuss, agree to disagree based on our own beliefs and experiences. And they’ll usually different from one shooter to the next. In the end, it’s my money, my experience and my thought process that wins out for me… :)

Springfield Prodigy Torture Test: Did It Survive 10K Rounds?

I think you may be confusing recommended maintenance with actual failure. It didn’t fail at 5K. It was replaced just as a precaution. Nothing saying it won’t make it to 10K. We’re talking about a simple spring…easily replaced during a field strip and clean. How many, how much…subjective...

Springfield Prodigy Torture Test: Did It Survive 10K Rounds?

I think if you do a little research…you’re going to find that recoil springs, depending on several factors, are recommended replacement at anywhere to 2K to 10K rounds. Zero issue with replacing it at 5K

Springfield Prodigy Torture Test: Did It Survive 10K Rounds?

I think hardly a day goes by…someone doesn’t have something bad or negative so say about something on the interwebs. I read the reviews, I knew the issues. Bought one anyways, I’ve always had really good luck with stuff like this. Luck ran out, issue after issue, SA took outstanding care of me...
