Original or RDP: Which One Do You Need?

The best feature of my Hellcat is its reliability. It hasn't even burped so far. Flawless function. I got the RDP because it looked like it had fun doodads on it that made it different than any other pistols I have. I've found the red dot helps me hit more distant targets at the range with my...

Life really does flash before eyes on dying?

Humans are generally afraid of death. As it approaches I have no doubt, if time permits, some of them 'see' long dead relatives and friends. It's just natural. My grandpa used to talk to his old friends long before he actually died. I remember an obscure country music song that mentioned...

Life really does flash before eyes on dying?

I'm in no hurry to verify that. Valhalla can wait. I try not to think about dying too much.

    Repaired SA-35 Range Report 04/10

It might have a little stiction somewhere in the slide rails or a burr on the bolt face or something. I'd spend a quiet hour with a bright light, a magnifier and the field stripped pistol, then assemble the slide to the frame without the recoil spring (if that's not taboo) and see how it feels...

    Repaired SA-35 Range Report 04/10

I hesitate to get into this one because I don't have an SA to check out. That said, how does the chamber look? Rough or dull of finish or is it polished smooth? A little polish job might make the fired, expanded brass easier to extract so they're less likely to bind and the smaller extractor...

    How many of you…..

It is always in the back of my mind in the mental spreadsheet I keep on all the guns. I make sure to wipe them good with the oily rag before they go on, and take them off rarely since I don't hunt or go afield with most of them. I also break them down and use a q tip to spread an oily film...

    New Toy

Aw, that's a beauty. Best double actions ever IMO. I gave a girlfriend one for Christmas once to teach her how to shoot. And she learned fast with a big smile. Nice gun!

    S/A 35

With guns and a time machine I would change history, just for the heck of it. I'd bring 100 M1A rifles and 20,000 rounds of ammo back to the Alamo for Davey Crockett, Col Bowie and the boys. I'm sure it would turn out differently.

Should I Run My Hellcat Without an Optic?

I could knock off both sights and have no trouble hitting bad guys from 10 feet away. I have a Uberti Stallion SA .38 that I shoot by pointing, like a finger. I don't even raise it up to eye level. It's a cowboy game I do at the range. It's fun if you can afford to waste a little ammo. I don't...

    There can be only one!

Yeah, it's stupid arguing back and forth. I never shot thousands of shells a year. Many hundreds, and not always for speed. We busted claybirds with riot guns. Stupid I guess. You had to get on em quick with no choke.

    There can be only one!

I'm not saying I'm the fastest in the world, I said I can unload as fast as that guy in the video posted above. Easily. For $2100 it better be pretty dern good. Just sayin.

    How Fast Do Bullets Travel?

That bad guy shootin black powder? Look at all dat smoke. George Reeves died mysteriously, I think he was murdered with his own gun. Look that up some time when you're bored.

    How Fast Do Bullets Travel?

Hickok 45 on youtube has some really good videos shooting at his range. Sometimes (with big slow pistol bullets like a .45acp) you can see the bullets arcing out to the 80 yard gong. That's a nice camera he's got there. Bullets go faster than anyone can run or dodge (except Neo on the Matrix)...

    There can be only one!

7.8 pounds- 7 shot magazine- $2149.... What choke is installed in that gun? They showed a very small birdshot pattern from 10 yards. Can it shoot slugs without wear and tear through that choke? My Mossberg 590A1 (or whatever it is) weighs less, costs $1300 less, is reliable, easy to strip and...

    Does 40S&W Really Suck?

I have always been a revolver guy, especially magnums. Recoil is something that I tolerate in a powerful gun, more power equals more recoil. No free lunches I'm aware of. I had no experience with the .40 til I took one in trade on a motorcycle I was selling. I read some articles, reviews, and...

    Busting Handgun Caliber Myths

The popular pistol calibers have been evolving for years into the lethal tools they have become. They have had lots of load and bullet development because they had passed the test of time. They sell reliably year after year. Some new round could appear tomorrow, be the greatest thing since the...

    Need Hellcat OSP Screws

I lost one of my OSP screws also. I would call them but I'm waiting til they forget that I lost one of the sight screws back last September. They're pretty small. A passing hobo stole it, I swear!

    MeTV

We always sang that, "tiddee rump tiddee rump tiddee rump rump rump.." The Lone Ranger had a risque theme song. We had a band when we were kids and played a Lone Ranger song.. 'Well the Ranger- and old Tonto rode the trail, shootin' outlaws - and puttin them in jail, but the Ranger- shot old...

BREAKING: ATF Writes Open Letter to all FFLs with FRT Warning

I can't recall the particulars, but in one case a gun malfunctioned at the range and emptied its own magazine. People discussed it on the 'net. Soon the ATF showed up and arrested the man for having a 'machine gun.' I think he had to go to jail. This is their mindset. I'm not surprised some...
