    A Day for the Dead

This post brought a tear to my eye. I don’t have many regrets ..but one is never having served. Let’s all raised a glass to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

    DS Prodigy Thumb Safety Removal

Trying to disassemble my Prodigy to install a new trigger. I’m stuck on the thumb safety. I’ve been at it all day. I’ve watched several videos, read other forum posts but this thing isn’t budging. I’m sure I’m doing something wrong. I can’t imagine it should be this hard. Any tricks before I...

    Prodigy DS - Aftermarket Thread

The EGW kit was my first choice but it has been out of stock so I thought I’d give the nighthawk DTS a try. I read a post saying it cut the Prodigy trigger weight in half. I figure if the DTS doesn’t work I’ll give the EGW kit a try.

    Prodigy DS - Aftermarket Thread

I don’t take it as snarky at all. It’s a very legit question. Not sure I’m 100% comfortable adjusting a sear spring. To send to a smith to have the EGW kit installed would bring the cost of the EGW kit at or above the DTS not to mention the wait for a smith to do the work. I’m sure I could mange...

    Prodigy Upgrades

Right now my 4.25” Prodigy is at Springfield having the reliability issues addressed. When I get it back there are a couple of upgrades I’m planning. Most are pretty standard e.g. tool less guide rod and extended slide stop. I have a short trigger (because I have stubby finger) as well. Assuming...

First Look: Springfield 1911 DS Prodigy 9mm

Called Springfield. CS rep asked a lot of questions. E.g. Asked for a list of issues, clean/lube the gun? What did I use? How many rounds fired? What ammo? They’re sending me a RMA and shipping label. I asked if I should send the magazines and was told “no.” I asked “don’t you need to test the...

First Look: Springfield 1911 DS Prodigy 9mm

That’s the way it should be. However, the closest FedEx store closest to me always asks what’s in the box? Something tells me I may end up having to ship through a dealer.

First Look: Springfield 1911 DS Prodigy 9mm

UPDATE: I never looked at the guide rod while shooting. I checked this morning and it had come loose. Really loose. It was backed out probably 1/8-1/4”. I have to think that this May be responsible (or at least contributed to) my FTF issues. Looking back at my notes I notice that the...

First Look: Springfield 1911 DS Prodigy 9mm

Picked up a 4.25” last week and took it to the range this weekend. I shot 174 rounds of winchester and Federal ranging from 115gr to 147gr. most interesting takeaway for me was that I was significantly more accurate with the prodigy than with my Sig P320. As far as functioning, I have 11...
