    This Requires An Explanation

If SWAT rushes in, somebody will die. Most likely the old man. Nowhere in that article does it say that Police have left the scene. Basic stand off situation. No need to put officer's lives in jeopardy. Just wait him out. Keep some officers on scene and wait. He'll come out sooner or later.

.32 ACP: The Round that Made the Auto Pistol

Only the Walthers do that. I have two Walther PP Series .32s. ;)

.32 ACP: The Round that Made the Auto Pistol

This is another round I'm fond of and have several guns in this caliber. Its no powerhouse, but if you do your part, it'll get the job done.

Is 380 Good for Self-Defense? Everything You Need to Know

I like the .380, own several and sometimes do carry one. My favorites are the Colt Mustang and Walther PPK/S. I believe the 380 is plenty adequate for self defense. However, I will differ a bit on the subject of recoil. In a locked breech design, the 380 is a pleasure to shoot and has...

    Competition information and discussions?

I shot IDPA pretty regularly for about 12 years. Honestly, I was never very good at it. I did it because its about as close as you can get for EDC practice and it was just plain fun! 😁 Don't worry about not being good, time and practice will take care of that. Just enjoy yourself. ;)

Hell in a Holster: The Japanese Nambu Pistol

My best friend was an avid C&R collector. He had a couple of these and I have handled them. Ugly, awkward feeling and just appeared to be poorly made. I was handling one once, have no idea just what I touched, pushed or whatever and the thing suddenly field stripped itself in my hand. Yeah, I...

Yeah, but they aren't fireproof.

A not-so-great day at the range for Adam Kinzinger

What kind of idiot shoots steel with a rifle at such close range? This is what happens when politicians who know nothing about firearms look for photo ops. :poop:

Terror threats not always what you think

Some years back, one of our drivers made an emergency pit stop at a local convenience store. Stunk the whole place up so bad that they banned him for life.

    SA16-A2

A few years back I bought a Colt Sporter A2 model. First thing I did was swap out the round handguards for the older triangular ones. That's was Uncle Sam issued me back in the early-mid 70s and feels much better in my hands. ;)

    Guess what I am doing

I'm guessing your taking the CMP M1 Garand armorer's class. I've wanted to do that for years, but its too far away, fills up too fast and I'm just plain old.

Preparing for the real problems is key

two things drive me crazy when it comes to preping. 1. Dried foods. In a real SHTF scenario, potable water will be much more precious than food. 2. That cabin in the woods to bug out to. Odds are that by the time you get there, somebody else will have already moved in and they aren't going to...

    .38 Special +P Data

I forgot to mention that the designation .38/44 was for a .38 caliber cartridge in the large .44 caliber frame. I should also mention that the .38/44 revolvers are simply marked ".38 S&W Special CTG". Back in the days before lawyers got involved, people were expected to be smart enough to know...

    .38 Special +P Data

Bear in mind that in 1930 heat treatment of steel wasn't what it is today. Yes, the .38/44s could be used in the standard K-frame of the time, but it proved to be hard on them causing excessive wear in short order. That's why S&W chambered this hot round in the big N-frame. Any modern .357 can...

    .38 Special +P Data

Around 1930 S&W created the .38/44 High Velocity cartridge. This was a .38 Special loaded to push a 158gr lead bullet at approximately 1200 fps. Mine you, it was a true .38 Special having the exact same size, case and headstamped as such. It was just loaded hot as hell. In 1935 the case was...
