Clips, Mags, and the 9mm Revolver

I own several Charter Arms Revolvers (Bulldog, Pathfinder, Mag Pug) and am a fan of the brand. It is just the Pitbull series that I have been unable to find at reasonable prices. I've seen them advertised online from time to time at prices in the S&W or Ruger range, but I've never actually...

Clips, Mags, and the 9mm Revolver

I've been curious about the Charter Arms Pitbull series of revolvers for awhile. The 9mm, .380 ACP, .40 S&W, and 45 ACP Pitbulls use some type of cylinder design that doesn't require moon clips. I don't know anyone who owns one, but I'd probably take a chance if I found one at a decent price.

Gunprime advertises Stoeger STR 9 for $174 after rebate

I frequently see Stoeger pistols advertised at low prices, but I don't know anyone who has purchased one. I've come close to buying a Stoeger Coach Gun several times, but I've never followed through. I think the Coach Guns are manufactured in Brazil, but that may have only been the older guns...

Range Report: BassCliff at Fletcher Arms, 6/1/22

Nice range report. I need to start doing more dedicated drills. My local indoor range got very popular during the early days of the pandemic. Unfortunately, not all of the new shooters sought training. I wasn't happy about it, but I fully understood when the range started enforcing a 1 round...

Ayoob: Cows’ Udders and the Crush Grip

I enjoy reading this type of article. Years of football, wrestling, pro MMA, and law enforcement have left me with severe nerve damage in my neck. Even after multiple corrective surgeries in middle-age, I have never regained more than partial use of my fingers. I've been experimenting with...

    Coolest Movie Gun Rooms

I was impressed with Brad Pitt's tool shed in Mr. & Mrs. Smith. The wife's setup inside the kitchen appliances was interesting, but the tool shed had better guns.

Canada PM proposes ban on AR’s and Pistols

For those looking to take power away from citizens, any excuse will do.

When You Are Your Own First Responder — Setting Up a Rural Home Defense Rifle

I prefer to keep things simple. My defensive gun when out on the land is a Mossberg Maverick 88. It is the 7+1 Security model with a 20" barrel. The only modification/accessorizing done to the gun is a tube-mounted flashlight and a 6-slot shell holder on the stock. I doubt that I have more...

Chances of New Federal Gun Restrictions?

I'm hoping (but am not necessarily hopeful) that any new regulation would involve a bit of compromise. The only thing that keeps me from supporting an age limit of 21 for semi-auto rifles is the lack of other options for self and home defense for young people. Kids may be different now, but I...

Fixed Blade or Hatchet? If You Can Only Choose One

I like the Sld's idea of a quality machete. I have an old SOG with a serrated back edge that would probably be my go-to. If I'm playing strictly by the rules of the game, I'd choose a hatchet with a sharp edge. I always have my EDC folder in my pocket, so I would still use that for any...

Chances of New Federal Gun Restrictions?

From what I have seen from reputable FFL's in Texas, they follow all of the reporting rules religiously. Unfortunately, this particular rule is a "feel-good" law at best. An FFL only knows which guns you have purchased or transferred through that particular FFL. FFL's do not have access to...

Range Report: BassCliff at WFTC, 5/27/22

The facility looks nice. I know that there are several upscale ranges (ex. air-conditioned w/ touch screens) in my area. I'd like to pretend that I shoot at my chosen indoor and outdoor ranges because I am traditional/spartan/old-school, but the truth is that I'm just cheap. Thanks for...

Chances of New Federal Gun Restrictions?

It has become obvious that the recent tragedies in Buffalo and Uvalde have kicked the "we need to do something" crowd into high gear. I expect a great deal of new "proposed" legislation at the Federal level. While the usual suspects will continue to demand a ban on "Assault Weapons" and "High...

    30 Super Carry

My decision on the adoption of the 30 Super Carry cartridge will be strictly based on price. If it consistently sells for less than .380 ACP, and guns chambered in 30 Super Carry are competitively priced, then I may adopt it. Like Papa and 10mm, I purchased my .380 ACP guns due to their size...

    More SA-35 Extraction Issues

I got lazy and started another thread after Springfield returned my SA-35, instead of updating this one. Springfield said they replaced my extractor spring, but didn't mention any further work. The number of FTE's during the first 100 rounds after the gun was returned was reduced by more than...

    Glock got me again

I picked up my Glock 42 when it was released (another Blue Label impulse buy). I love that little gun, and even carried it as my EDC for awhile. I've always felt that the G42 doesn't get the attention it deserves. While tiny .380 ACP guns are great for deep-concealment or pocket-carry, they...

    Colt’s New .22 Revolver…King Cobra Target

I have a few .22 LR snubnose revolvers, but I've never owned a full-sized rimfire double-action revolver. The S&W 617 has been on my radar for years, but the price-tag makes it an unlikely purchase for me. Assuming it works as expected, the new Colt King Cobra Target would definitely make my...

    Glock got me again

I also have been drawn into purchasing several Glocks due to the generous Blue Label discount. All of my Glocks have been excellent guns, but I doubt that I would own half of them if I had to pay MSRP. On the plus side, I have never regretted any of my Glock purchases. Congrats on the new...

    New .22 Mag Semi-Auto Pistol

I'm a big fan of the .22 Magnum round. I own several .22 Mag revolvers, but my only semi-auto in .22 Mag is my Kel-Tec PMR 30. I was excited to see Walther announce the new WMP today. I would love for Springfield to offer a similar XD model, but even 1 new addition to the market is a huge...

    Impressive Performance from "Cheap" Guns?

My SD40VE is one of my favorite range guns. I did finally break down and install the Apex Tactical trigger and springs. I kept thinking that, with enough shots, I would master the stock trigger. Unfortunately, I never could get a solid group without a flyer with the stock trigger. The...
