    Tanker Garands: The Real Story

Interesting article! It happens that in the last few weeks I visited a friend's gunshop. He showed me a tanker carbine he had on consignment. It was equipped with a scope and a flash hidder similar to a Brithish jungle carbine. He advised he expected it to sell in the $3000 to $4000 range.

Learning from the past: A police perspective

A very good article! As a police officer and firearms instructor for 32 years and an academy firearms instructor for an additional 10 years, I experienced the changes in training inspired by these incidents. It is far better to learn from the mistakes of others than to make the same mistakes...

In my neck of the woods

There has been a mountain lion seen within 2 miles of my house here in Mid-Michigan. A neighbor 2 miles away saw it in his horse pasture about four years ago. It has been caught on game cameras several times since then. Last year they captured a picture of 2 mountain lions on a game camera...

How Do I Pick a Holster?

I have been carrying concealed for 50 years. I have two totes of the holsters purchased over the years. My preference is for a IWB Desantis Cozy Partner. It is a leather holster and I have a model for several of my EDC guns.

    Take You're Gun With You!

I think I would be chucking rocks if unarmed in this situation. But on the other hand I carry 99.9% of the time and definitely in areas with predators (2 or 4 legged). 😁

    Why Everyone Likes Lever Actions

Great article! I have mentioned before that my Marlin 1894 C in 357 is one I love to carry and shoot. It has killed more whitertail deer than any of my other rifles. It is short, light ,fast handling and accurate. Th he only draw back is that maximum effective range is about 150 yard's...

    Thoughts on 25 acp???

I have never owned nor shot a .25 ACP. Years ago a friend told about an incident he witnessed in a bar. A big burly guy and a little guy got into an argument. The little guy pulled a .25 ACP and shot the big guy. The big guy beat the little guy to a pulp and then walked to the ambulance when...

Skinner Sights Bush Pilot Survival Kit

Nice kit. Wild West Guns in Alaska had a similar kit a few years ago. Their take down was a larger caliber. Good thing I am not a pilot as I would probably have to have one of those. :)

The General Purpose Handgun: One Concept to Consider

I think if I could only have one firearm that it would be a .357 Magnum revolver. It is truly an all round general purpose handgun. Shooting 38 Special rounds for plinking and the .357 Magnums for serious work. Luckily we don't have those limitations yet. :)

    having trouble getting ar15 helpppp

Good luck on finding any rifles in stock. From what I have heard from a couple of dealers they have a hard time ordering specific rifles. They advised distributors contact them and tell them what stock they have from which to order. Ammunition is pretty much the same.

Glock 20: Why the 10mm Pistol Is One You Want in the Backcountry

Good article on the Glock 20. My Glock 20 is set up similar to the author's including the drop in 40 S&W barrel. I also carried it in a chest rig on my last hunt in Alaska. Previously I always carried my Dan Wesson .445 Supermag. I felt comfortable that either would be enough for a grizzly...

The .357 Magnum: A Useful and Exciting Cartridge

Very good article on the 357 Magnum. The first duty gun I purchased was a S&W Model 19 four inch. A true joy to shoot. I bought its companion Marlin 1894 in 357 Magnum when it first came out. Both shoot 158 grain JSP with deadly accuracy. Have killed numerous whitetail deer with both. I...

    First Look: Zeta6 K-PAK Speedloader

Just a tweak on the old Bianchi speed strip. Still carry one when using my S&W Model 49 as EDC. Only advantage appears to be being able to load 3 at a time rather than 2 with Bianchi speed strip. Also Bianchi speed strips work on J-frame and K-frames. . Speed loaders are faster but a little...

What Do You Do? Cops and CCW

Good article. Here in Michigan you are required to inform if you come into contact with an officer. I have not been stopped since I retired. If I was stopped I would advise the officer officer that I was a retired officer with a CPL ( Concealed Pistol License) and that I was armed. The...

    .357 Classic Revolvers

Very Nice Killer! Bought my Model 19 4 inch about the same time 1973. It immigrated to Alaska and is carried by my daughter-in-law as her woods gun. Still have my Dan Wesson 15 with 2", 4", 6" and 8" barrels. Should get that out of the safe and give it some exercise. 357 Mag is hard to beat. 😀

    RIFLE CALIBERS IN REVOLVERS?

I have shot a S&W 500, also 444 Marlin and 45 Mag in T/C. Not fond of any of them. I will stick with my Dan Wesson 445 Supermag. Has 1/10 inch longer case than 44 Reminton Magnum. My 300 grain hard cast bear rounds will go through a 4x6 piece of oak on either direction. Recoil is noticeable...

    The Backpack Gun. Why Now?

My backpack rifle is a Charter Arms AR-7 .22 LR semi-auto that comes apart and stores in it's floating stock. It has been to Alaska with me on several trips. Makes a great survival or small game rifle. I think Henry Rifle Company manufacture them now.

    PRECISION RIFLE FOR NEWBIE

My shooting partner shoots F Class competition. He has a Ruger Precision Rifle in 6.5 Creedmor and a Savage Mod 12 (?) also in 6.5 Creedmor. He has a Leapold scope on one and a Burris scope on the other. Both are tack drivers. He spent about the same on the scopes as he paid for the rifles...
