I personally do not want to handle them. I'm not afraid of snakes and have handled my share when applicable, but in the woods I'll usually just kick them off to the side and go on whether venomous or not. However, in town and especially up around where kids and dogs play ... I'll put them out of...

I'll argue with anybody there's no such thing as a pet snake ... a snake is fairly sedate as long as it's belly is full, so if you feed it enough, and often enough it will allow you to handle it, etc. But it will never be your pet.

Not that I claim to be an expert on this particular topic, but I am pretty well versed on both the white tailed deer and the snakes, and I'd say without question it's possible, even probable the deer was caught live and swallowed. I've seen an alligator cut out of the stomach of a snake that...
