peglegjoe - I agree with Hans. The extractor moving over the cartridge rim isn’t the best way to load.Loading upfrom the mag then adding the round back in or using a second mag is going to be more reliable and better for your gun.

BradB - I don't think JMB would mind one bit, especially when you consider that the 1911 is derived from the model 1900 which was chambered in .38 ACP. As it evolved to the 1904, then 1907 the Army got a hold of it and they specified the .45 ACP. Amazing evolution if you ask me.

El Lobo - Thanks for the compliment. Seems like we had a similar path. My first handgun was a Buckmark in .22lr. My family wasn't a gun family so my dad didn't teach me to shoot (I taught him later in life.) I shot the snot out of that .22 and after 5000 rounds I bought my first center fire...

Hey Neighbor! I am next door in Geauga county and this time of year, gloves are necessary for me too. Where is it that you get out to the range?

I actually just got a pair of the PIG Cold weather gloves. I'll be shooting them at the range tomorrow to see how they do. They are thicker than the gloves I have been wearing and will hopefully keep me a bit warmer and still let me feel the trigger and hold on to the gun!

I agree that gloves are a hindrance. Unfortunately up here in NE Ohio, they are a necessity.
