    Non-Gun Hand Drills

Ahh the Columbus method of typing. Go out in search of a letter and land on it. With the best of efforts it's still often not the letter you intended to land on. It's served me well for years.

DeSantis 1911 holsters - now molded specifically for SIG profile slides.

I just purchased a DeSantis Mad Max for my Mil-Spec. I was surprised when I received it to see that the holster was clearly molded for a SIG Sauer 1911 and not the standard slide profile. The holster fails the drop test, hold it upside down and the gun s slide right out. You can see light...

How To Use the Hellcat RDP Compensator

I would not have a carry gun with a compensator or porting. I will never forget being on a night fire qualification course and one of the agents present had his newly magna ported .357 revolver. Well the first rounds of the course were fired from retention. He did his speed rock and fired...

Milt Sparks most comfortable IWB holster for Government Model

What makes the SS better for you than the EC? Also to be specific is it the SS or the SS2? I know the SS2 has a sweat guard while my understanding is the SS does not.

Milt Sparks most comfortable IWB holster for Government Model

Going through my holsters for my 1911s I was only able to find about 2 dozen... So obviously I need a new one. I'm going to order a new holster from Milt Sparks and I wanted to hear from folks with experience with some of their IWB holsters. Specifically the Summer Special 2, Executives...

    Classics That Are Worth Reading?

The Hobbit & The Lord of the Rings (The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, The Return of the King) by J.R.R. Tolkien I reread them every few years. I read them annually when I was in the military. The Sherlock Holmes stories & novellas by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Dracula by Bram Stoker...

    Ayoob: Is the .45 Obsolete?

They've been writing about .45 vs 9mm since about 1898. Of course then it was .45 Long Colt vs. .38 Long Colt, still the same argument. They'll be writing the same article for the next 123 years. Comparing whatever new wonder gun being made then to the .45 and the 1911 still being made.

    Ayoob: Is the .45 Obsolete?

My choice of the .45 over 9mm or .40 was cemented back when I shot pin matches (late 80's-early 90's). Knocking a full weight bowling pin 3 feet back off a a table was never a problem for the .45 ACP. 9mm took two hits to do it and .40 could go either way. I've carried a .45 since then and...

-I did not say that you said anything. I pasted the title of the article I linked to. -I know what was written in the few articles I've read on the recent bear attack. Do you know more than what was reported? What are your sources? -I did not say "bear spray is junk science" I posted a link...

    Novak sights - why?

Interesting take, so why are they still around and being put on new guns? I had been taught one handed racking using my belt and the rear sight long before Novaks were introduced.

    NEWBIE NEEDS ADVISE

“The claim that bear spray works better than a firearm to protect you from bears is junk science” https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/the-truth-about-bear-spray-vs-bullets/ Just last month a woman in Saskatchewan, Canada was killed by a black bear. When her husband sprayed the bear with bear...

    NEWBIE NEEDS ADVISE

I would suggest an inexpensive .22 caliber pistol. Anything else is going to help you build a good flinch that can stay with you for the rest of your life. Go to the range regularly and practice with it.

    Novak sights - why?

Why are Novak sights still being put on pistols intended for combat use? Since their introduction I have never been a fan of Novak sights. That snag free ramp rear sight is the problem. The problem being that it is too snag free. I was taught that you may need to be able to operate your...
