    What Is a Slide Spider?

Spiders don’t have 10 legs? I never been close enough to one to check. Never mind... please don’t upload photos of actual spiders. I ain’t been right since I watched Arachnophobia as a child.

    What Is a Slide Spider?

I have a few of those. They are the reason I kept a beautiful gun that I couldn’t rack to save my life (due to the slickness of the slide). I was 5 seconds from shipping my slide off to have the serrations deepened when I stumbled upon these spiders last year. So far so good. Neither gun oil...

How much ammo do you keep on hand?

My goal is to have at least 1k rounds on hand for every ‘main’ firearm. I’d prefer 2k but once I hit the 1k mark, I move on to stocking the next lower tier until that threshold is met. Main = a firearm that will typically be used in both indoor and outdoor defensive encounters. ‘Backup’ firearms...

    Ammo to avoid

It’s hard to find a brand that is universally bad... especially with ammo being so scarce. I generally avoid reloads from individuals (whether I know them personally or not) and steel cased ammo. I try to stick with the big names in factory ammo unless I’ve personally tested the lesser known...

    Hollow point ammo

Both my finicky Walther .380 and my H&K .45 love liberty civil defense. Thousands of rounds and never had a single jam (and that damn .380 chokes on everything). I started carrying it in my summertime carry after I saw what it did to hogs on the farm.

    Hollow point ammo

When I had a 9 mm, I ran HST in it... however I agree with the previous posts that there are many other choices that reliably penetrate/expand and they might be easier to find (but they might not be as perfect as the HST). If you can find HST, I definitely recommend that as your go to choice...

Saint Victor fail to eject round when hot

I’d give the chamber a good scrub then make sure the bcg is oiled and that the extractor thingy is setting in there correctly... when the issue happens again, I’d take the gun apart to see if it’s dry. I was scared that my new AR would have the same ‘bolt stuck forward/jam’ issues that a few...

    Ammunition luck

Thanks! I really like it so far.

    Ammunition luck

Thats a good plan. I haven’t owned a 9 mm in years, and all of the other guns I have are ‘non popular’ calibers so I didn’t have any problem finding the ammo I needed before or during this mess. My problem was that I bought my first AR two weeks ago so I was forced to try to find .223/5.56...

    Ammunition luck

Yup same here. I think a lot of folks who didn’t have any ammo a few months ago have already ‘bit the bullet’ so to speak and bought what they needed at ridiculous prices. So now that the ammo is turning up locally again, they can walk away from it if they don’t really need it. The folks who are...

How To Train With An AR-15

My outdoor range won’t even let me ‘sling my rifle and run’ if it’s unloaded. Sucks to be me.

    Ammunition luck

I think ammo and guns are trickling back into shops but the prices reflect the ‘crisis’. My local spot has cases of 9 mm hollowpoints, but selling for $50 per 50 rounds (reflects what they had to pay to acquire the ammo). They were also able to acquire lots of target .223. They’ve had no ammo...

    UPS gun theft ring

Yup. That exact same thing happened to me with FedEx last week. Status update to kill time / make room for other stuff on truck / hide fact that box was temporarily ‘lost’ in the warehouse. When I called and emailed them about it, it must have helped them locate then deliver the box... a few...

Wait time for a new Saint Victor AR Pistol??

Yes, it’s strange times. I was one of those gun owners who said that I’d never buy an AR. Then 2020 happened. And I realized that I needed an AR. I am fortunate that I was able to find both a new AR and some ammo for it. I almost waited too long.

Wait time for a new Saint Victor AR Pistol??

So... I called SA 2 weeks ago to inquire about the availability of firearms shown in their NRA instructor catalog. I was told by the lead rep that there is currently a 4 month wait on all SA Firearms if the new order is ordered directly from SA. Basically, if you need the item sooner than...

    Would you accept this?

Thanks! This will be my first SA firearm and my first AR. I’ve already got some accessories for it but I don’t know much about the AR platform. I’m not looking forward to sighting it in but I thank God for YouTube videos.

    Would you accept this?

Yup that’s what I’m thinking. I’ve got my first AR coming next week... if it arrives like Ms Melissa’s, I’m going to ask my dealer for a discount or a free upgrade item (or something) but I ain’t gonna tell them to keep the AR. They waited 5 months to get those guns in stock. I can’t wait for...

    Would you accept this?

I’d call SA, or the dealer, and send them the photos then ask for a discount or a replacement tube. I wouldn’t send that AR back (due to the current ‘climate’)... my AR would need to straight up fail / not function for me to send it back in late 2020.

    Bait and Switch

I think the sticky is a good idea. I’ve been ordering from a select few online sellers for rounds that I can’t get at my local range. All of my local shops have been out of the ammo I’ve been looking for; I haven’t had any luck with them since late June.
