Perfectly Sublime: The Cylinder & Slide Custom SA-35

My very first pistol was a Browning P-35 purchased in the early 60’s. I kept it until last year when I gave it to my nephew (who was lusting for it). Then I missed it but became aware of the Springfield SA-35. I contacted my favorite gun dealer and asked him to order one. That was 6 months...

    Defensive Revolver Calibers

I have an essentially new (very few rounds through it) Ruger GP100 4" in .44 Spl. For field use I bought Buffalo Bore 44 Special 255 Grain Lead Keith-Type Semi-Wadcutter Gas Check cartridges from Midway. They claim 1000 fps at the muzzle. That should be a potent round for what ever comes my way.

Another hanguard/rail possibility is the VLTOR one. It extends all they way to the stripper clip and should be good for a more over the receiver scope. https://www.vltor.com/shop/m14m1a/handguards-m14m1a/casv-14-m14-rail-system/

    M1A SOCOM 16 optics

Keystone1925 -- I have a Burris 2x7x40 scout scope on the ultimak rail. I can't say regarding heavier scopes. With the scout scope there is no problem and I have to say that the attachment of the rail to the rifle seems well thought out and very secure.

    M1A SOCOM 16 optics

You can mount a long eye relief scout type scope on your rifle using the OEM picatinny rail. If you need a cheek riser, consider Bradley cheek risers for the M1A. Or, you can remove the OEM scout rail and hand guard and replace those parts with an Ultimak rail...

    Buffalo Bore Ammo

Yes. I have seen that video before and generally respect Ayoob. These are things over which reasonable people can differ though. Regarding the original thread topic, I ordered Buffalo Bore Ammunition 44 Special 255 Grain Lead Keith-Type Semi-Wadcutter Gas Check for my Ruger GP 100 .44 Spl from...

    Buffalo Bore Ammo

I am a very strong 2nd Amendment supporter, concealed carry daily, have had quite a bit of defensive pistol training over the years, have a defense attorney who specializes in shooting defense cases on speed dial, and hope I never need to use my sidearm in a real self defense situation. I also...

    Buffalo Bore Ammo

Just stop reading my post after the first line: "If it is a justified shooting, then the gun modifications are irrelevant as is type of ammo used. Agreed" and you will be happy. The rest of the post is a little complicated.

I am only suggesting that you increase the chance of your surviving the outcome by applying the concept of risk management in advance of the shooting.

    Buffalo Bore Ammo

If it is a justified shooting, then the gun modifications are irrelevant as is type of ammo used. Agreed. But sometimes you have to get a favorable jury decision before you can breathe a sigh of relief that the shooting was, indeed, justified. You thinking it was justified really doesn't...

    Buffalo Bore Ammo

A lot of good points raised in this thread. Note that there are, of course, two kinds of cases: criminal and civil. Two different standards of proof: beyond a reasonable doubt and preponderance of the evidence. In criminal cases the standard of proof is much higher but you also have a...

Does This Gun Prove That John Moses Browning Got the 1911 Wrong?

Dillon Justice: I picked up the nickname Tonopah because of many motorcycle rides from Southern California to Tonopah, NV. We used to do those rides on the first weekend in February and rode through mining towns, desert, Trona, Goldfield and often on ice to Tonopah itself. The next day we rode...

    Buffalo Bore Ammo

If you're talking about self defense, you owe it to yourself to imagine yourself in a courtroom later. The prosecutor is telling the jury about your "Hellcat" pistol, or your modified 1911 with the "hair trigger" while your defense attorney is back peddling trying to explain these things away...

Does This Gun Prove That John Moses Browning Got the 1911 Wrong?

In a moment of generosity, I gave my 1960s era Hi Power to my nephew (who lusted after it). It does have a good home so I am okay with that. But I did put in an order for a Springfield SA-35. Couldn't help it.

Does This Gun Prove That John Moses Browning Got the 1911 Wrong?

I think that best practice would be to limit carry pistols to only two or three so that the manual of arms for each is well imbedded in muscle memory. I violate that practice all the time as I rotate many pistols regularly. The evils of a lifetime of collecting guns, I guess.

Does This Gun Prove That John Moses Browning Got the 1911 Wrong?

I'm an old guy and have been interested in firearms since I was in grammar school (they don't even call it that anymore). What amazes me is the sheer volume of high quality firearms available now a days compared to times past. 1911 pattern lightweight commanders have been a favorite of mine and...
