    Springfield Custom Shop

I sent an email to Customer Service in Geneseo and got just the message I was hoping for. I'll be sending them my slide tomorrow. Very fast and friendly communications. :giggle:
  2. Hurryin' Hoosier

    Springfield Custom Shop

I know. It's been several years.
  3. Hurryin' Hoosier

    Springfield Custom Shop

Yet another example of God smiling on the work of John Moses Browning. :giggle:
  4. Hurryin' Hoosier

    Springfield Custom Shop

The 1911s are produced at Geneseo.

I pledge allegiance to the flag......

"God" does not imply any particular religion.

    Winter Storm Landon

Oh, LANDON. I thought you said BRANDON.

I pledge allegiance to the flag......

Baloney. "Separation of Church and State" only means to imply that there is to be no "national church" (e.g., the Church of England, the Church of Germany (which is Lutheran), etc.

    Springfield Custom Shop

Has anyone had dealings with the Springfield Custom Shop? I'm not sure just what services they offer. I've got a new 1911 Garrison and am wondering if they would be willing to install the same fiber optic front sight as comes on the 1911 Ronin.

    Yeh, it really is NASCAR!

REAL race cars don't have fenders. 😉

Fiber Optic Front Sight for Garrison

You have had problems with breakage? Hadn't thought about that. The only FO sight which I currently have is a Novak, which really has good support around the rod.

Fiber Optic Front Sight for Garrison

I want to put a Dawson Precision fiber optic front sight on my 1911 Garrison. As near as I can tell, the slide has a cut .330" wide at the bottom and the factory blade is .180" x .125". Is this the sight I would want? I plan to put on my big-boy pants and try to install it myself. 🙏

First Look: Springfield Armory SA-35 9mm

Yeah. And look at the prices! o_O

Will Springfield ever move out of Illinois?

As a Hoosier neighbor, I have always felt sorry for "down state" Illini. Most people automatically associate Illinois with Chicagoland. Very sad. (Indiana, BTW, is also like two different states, with the dividing line being US-40.)

    1911 Types

I would think so. Near as I can tell, it's meant to give the extractor enough room to catch the rim on the cartridge case.

    1911 Types

One thing about which I'm pretty sure is that old JMB didn't do anything just for $#!*$ and grins. He had something in mind. ;)

    1911 Types

The gun Gods want things to be confusing. With a pistol, the length includes the chamber. With a revolver, the length is only the barrel itself (muzzle to forcing cone) and not the chambers. They're part of the cylinder.

LGS manager says…hold off on SA-35

    Same-same new car models.

New addition to my 1911 collection...

There are other guns which I may like, but the 1911 platform will always be the one I love!
  19. Hurryin' Hoosier

    Maybe for Christmas this year!

Looks like a lot more recoil than the S&W 629.

M14 and the War on Terror: One Veteran’s Experience

All I can say is that I could hit a gnat in the ass with the M14. With the M16 I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn - from inside the barn! And I hate to think what would have happened if a guy tried to administer a vertical butt stroke with an M16. o_O
