Grumman F-14 Tomcat — America’s Carrier Based Variable-Sweep Wing Fighter

The F-14 shown does have an Aardvark consistent with VF-114. The lions of VF-213 look nothing like that.

Sikorsky H-5: One Seriously Ugly Helicopter

I'm not trying to convince anyone that they aren't ugly, but I did shoot one of the shorter barreled Rhinos once with full-power .357 Mag loads. It was a pretty soft shooter - more akin to a 38 than a magnum. Still couldn't pocket carry one like a Smith, but the tech seemed to work.

    Story of the Flying Tigers

I just wanted to say thank you for sharing your story. What a great piece of family history! Wish I could help with your inquiry.

The Four Parts of a Cartridge

A "grain" is a measure of weight (mass). Both powder and bullets are often measured in grains. Technically, you could measure the weight of anything in grains. More grains means more weight. So, more grains of powder means more potential velocity. More grains of bullet typically means slower...

What Is the Best SBR for Police Work?

Really? I thought most people complained about the lack of penetration by the 5.56 compared to other rifle rounds. FWIW, I like the M1 Carbine also!

    NEW: S&W PC™ M&P®10MM 5.6"

Agreed. I like my polymer guns, but those new S&W pistols with a metal frame are interesting. I'd like to try this one out with a metal frame.

Rumble in the Jungle: American Tanks in Vietnam

Does DoD work for you as a source on Dye's background? From DINFOS: https://www.dinfos.dma.mil/About/DINFOS-Hall-of-Fame/Hall-of-Fame-2022/HoF-2022-Dye/ "He served in Vietnam in 1965 and then from 1967 through 1970, surviving 31 major combat operations. He emerged from Southeast Asia highly...

Rumble in the Jungle: American Tanks in Vietnam

You signed up to the forum just to tear this man down? If you dig into his history, you'd see that he began life as a grunt and was later reclassified as a combat correspondent. And I don't see how being a cc would be shameful in the least - certainly no pog. No one ever claimed he was an...

Great article and an incredible writer. Capt. Dye is an example of the best of America.

Ayoob: Do This to Stress-Test Your Gunfight Survival Skills

Former security and police officer here. I did a lot of training trying to learn how to do exactly what you are describing. It's a slow process no matter what the gear or training. What I finally decided was to pick a safe, reliable method of obtaining the gun with the off hand regardless of how...

The Armory Life Flies a British Spitfire

F4s were definitely fast! I don't know if people understand how quick those planes were.

Is This the Ultimate Hellcat Pro Torture Test?

That sucks. My SIG P226 liked to rust here in Florida, so I know your pain. As soon as I walked out of the house, it was like the salt air attacked it immediately. I haven't had any issues with my Hellcat or HC Pro, but I'll keep an eye on it!

    1st LE Trade/Surplus Purchase

Good find OP. I carried a .40 P226 for about 6 years with one agency. I bought it when they upgraded and haven't shot it since. It's a fine gun, but to me the DA/SA system is inferior to any consistent system. I typically stick with DA revolvers and striker-fired pistols for most things. I have...

S&W Shield in 30 Super Carry

I'd like to get one (and ammo) as a collector's item. I don't see that it offers enough of an advantage over existing cartridges to make any real dent in the market. A couple of extra rounds of a more expensive cartridge that is "almost" as powerful as 9mm doesn't really resonate with me.
