    How did COVID change you?

Made me trust politicians and journalists even less than I did before; which wasn't very much. While Covid was / is very real my opinion is that it was used to see just how far they could go in making people do things. Kind of a big experiment taking advantage of the public's ( intentional)...

What gets me is why anyone cares what their opinion is. They are looked to for entertainment not education or enlightenment.

    Rear sights

The tactical rack / ledge rear are nice sights and practical. The only downside to me is that they just don't have that nice clean look to them like a Novak or others of similar shape. Here is a question: What advantage ( other than a marginally longer sight radius ) if any does this Wilson /...

    Custom Grips?

You betcha. Me and Factory grips just never got along. I used these when I had an N-Frame smith. These on my Ruger Speed Six And, currently using these on my Ronin

    Rear sights

I have the same thought about night sights. When the sights on my Ronin were changed they were my only option from them in the right height. I like them more for the fluorescent orange ring than the Trit. Also, needing to get new Trit every 10 years or less was a mark against for me...

    This Knife...Faked Inscription Date?

Thanks, It took me a while to figure out the weird guard on it then it suddenly hit me. One side is a bottle opener and the other side is a can opener. E.D. Hayden was my Great Uncle Bus Hayden. I guess Herman was the maker??

    Rear sights

All good - keep the info coming. Three dot sights: For me I found I was putting too much effort into getting them lined up perfectly instead of concentrating on the front and making the tops even. They just did not work well for me.

    This Knife...Faked Inscription Date?

That could easily be from 1945 but I don't think the inscription adds value. Looks like it was done with a pretty sharp toll of sorts; raised a nice burr. I wonder how soft that blade is. My Great Uncle brought this home from the pacific Theater WWII, Army Air Corps on Guam and other...

    Rear sights

I like that Guttersnipe and remember reading about them. As for night sights; My Ronin actually has a front night sight now. When Springfield put the Wilson on for me they found it shot high with the stock front fiber optic. They did not have a FO front high enough but they did have a night...

Whatever happened to Arched mainspring housings

My first 1911 was a Colt series 70 (1978) with an arched housing. fast forward to a couple of years ago when I got my SA Ronin and it's flat housing. I wasn't sure I would like it and was given an arched housing just in case. After using it I actually like the flat housing better myself. I...

    Rear sights

Hi all again; In regard to rear sights - there are all different styles and thoughts. Novaks, ledges, Wilsons etc and they all seem to have their proponents. What are your preferences, and why? I'll start : When I got my Ronin I was kinda lukewarm over the Tactical Rack rear ledge sight. I...

    Douglas Barrels: Handcrafted Precision

I preferred Hart barrels myself but Douglas makes a darned good barrel for a reasonable price. I toured the Douglas facility once around 1978 - 1980. I rode along from Ohio with a couple of friends going to pick a barrel one had on order. It was amazing to watch them make a barrel ...

My Ronin - lookin a little different

It is a Wilson fixed Battlesight with a .145 wide notch and a u bottom. Wilson says they are higher than a standard Novak Lowmount sight and typically require a .190 high front. That is what SA found it needed; the .190 high night sight they used is .135 wide and give a great sight picture...
