He seemed like someone you'd enjoy having a beer with. Definitely spent most of his life burning the candle at both ends. I enjoyed his work. He will be missed.
Barry, My apologies. I was scanning and posting in between yard work and somehow went down a rabbit hole on the S&W Forum but about Winchester making M1's. I had the dumbs. Sorry😲
It looks like they did from the info here: LINK
I never knew until reading the info posted there that only Winchester & Inland made the M2 receivers.
"Parts made directly by Winchester:
Bolts, receivers, barrels, slides, Magazine releases, extractors, stocks, Hand guards, hammers, trigger...
I wonder if they still have the tooling to make M1 carbines gathering dust in a warehouse somewhere. That or a no-lock M13 3" would be the only thing I need.
This is sort of surreal for me to consider that in February 1979 when the Shah was deposed, I was in Law Enforcement college at a facility that hosted an English Language Learning Center with about 400 Iranians attending. Students in the LE program were members of the police cadet corps/Campus...
I would rate the likelihood of Israel giving up its nukes right up there with SecDef Hegseth forming a new platoon in 1st SOFD made up of transexual soldiers (perhaps they could call them the "SUPER SILLY squad ) I'm not a huge fan of Israel by any means (other than their women) but to...
They need to start running the rock throwing protestors who are between 18 and 25 against the Selective Service Registry. It's a Felony with up to a 10 year sentence to not have registered. If people want to claim the they are "subject to the jurisdiction thereof" and so protected by the 14th...
How about Val Kilmer's Severtech Spartan that he took from an "East German fellow" in the movie Spartan. Or the Iron Mistress Bowie from the movie by that name?
320 jokes are fun! I had a guy pulling my leg who said, "If you're worried about it going off and shooting yourself in the leg... just carry it in a horizontal shoulder holster!" 😲
The other thing to think about is bullet setback. .40 S&W is notorious for it. My procedure was to mark the round that had been chambered with a Sharpie with a line across the base of the case. Once it had 2 lines (X) it went into the 3rd magazine and wouldn't be chambered again unless fired.
