Springfield XD Sub-Compact 3" vs. Springfield XD Tactical 5"

I have an old XDm40 3.8 that I bought in 2011. I recently replaced the sights again with XS R3D 2.0 and powder river spring kit. I feel like i just bought a new gun and love the way it shoots. I also like my XDs 45 with powder river kit and talon grips. Both guns are very accurate and reliable.

    Pistol Magazine Loaders

My XDM came with one that i keep with it and works just fine for it. However, i keep a Uplula in my range bag and use it the most.

How much spare ammo do you all carry?

Depends. If I'm carrying an EDC that holds 6 then I always carry a spare mag. If I'm carrying and EDC that holds 15 then I "usually" won't carry a spare.

Is a safe enough to protect guns/ammo from the elements?

If you don't have electrical nearby to add a dehumidifier bar the cans that can be recharged in the oven and/or the ones that plug in to recharge work very well. I suggest using both.

.22 for concealed carry, are you kidding me?

I have a NAA mini mag revolver but seldom carry it. They are impressive for what they are and made really well. It is perfect because of its size and weight for those rare occasions when you feel you absolutely can't conceal anything else and beats throwing rocks...

    Springfield Armory

My Spingfields; XDm 40 (2011), XDs 45 (2012), 1911 Stainless Loaded (2017). I'm due for another Springfield but currently lack the funds so I really need to win a Hellcat!

    Comfort in a holster

A good gun belt is essential as well. I have 2 crossbreed belts that have held up well with everyday wear for several years.

    Win a Hellcat Pistol!

I would love to replace my EDC with a Hellcat. It's about the same size but with twice the capacity.

Must Have Mods for your XD series gun?

Truglo sights and Powder River trigger kit on my XDS 45.

    Comfort in a holster

I have several holsters but my favorite is crossbreed. I have 2, one for XDS45 and one for XDM40. I can ccw at 4-5 o'clock position all day comfortably.

    Is the .40 Dead?

I don't think so. I like 9 and 45 as much as anybody and 9mm ammo is definitely more affordable. But I will always feel my 3.8 XDM40 is an awesome firearm.

    XDs trigger problems?

Definitely call SA, they have excellent customer support. I bought a 45 XDs in 2012 that had to go back for the recall. Then sent it back later for a light strike issue that I was unable to resolve. It shoots flawlessly now and I would never part with it. Their support has a good reputation...

Small safes for home gun staging

I have a Vaultek and like for same reasons mentioned by GeorgiaGal. I also have a Fort Knox PB1 that is also worth a look. It is a little larger and has a simplex mechanical lock (no battery). I highly recommend either one, just depends on the size you need.
