12/23 - Range Day (Phoenix)

dadoser

Master Class
Just thought I'd post some pics from a late December range day - low to mid 70s. So those of you living in the cold can live vicariously for a few minutes. (To old to do this in the 110 degree summer days)

Nothing like getting outside and shooting on days like today. Beautiful weather. Shooting with a couple great guys.
Cowtown Range - North Phoenix. Members can get a bay and we are left alone for 4 hrs. Can move and shoot - pretty much whatever as long as following basic safety rules (self monitored).

Nothing like the repeated ping of steel from 40 yards with a 10mm.
That AP5 suppressed is just a sweet, sweet shooter......and the binary, while not practical - is sh*t tons of fun.

I was shooting - AP5, Springfield Saint edge pistol lower w/ built 300BLK 9.5" upper, FN 510, Walther PDP Pro Compact, Staccato P, Staccato C.

i agree 1 billion % on southern AZ summers it sucks! i was there awhile back in late sep and early oct. we left at 9:30pm when phx was 98* and got to flagstaff a few hours latter and temp was 48*...........what a relief! perfect for shorts and tanktop weather! kinda like southern tx............it sucks in the summer until late fall thru early spring. sure it gets over 100 where i'm at, but it's a dry heat and it still sucks! 0-60* is my favorite time on year w/o wind! i still wear shorts and tanktops in those temp ranges when the wind is 0-10mph. pisses my wife off as she says "dress for winter". i have seasonal colored tanktops ;). what is the range limit on yardage or is there something else for long to extended range? might need to make a trip and do some shooting with you! i don't have any full-autos, suppressors or fsa's;), but hopefully will get some sbr's and suppressors 1 day?

We lived in Mesa from '85-2018. I was even a welder in an open air shop when it hit 122. The older I got the less I could take the heat. We have shot at Cowtown, Rio Salado and Ben Avery for CAS. Summers are and were extreme. We moved South in 2019 and much prefer it. With elevation, it's cooler and the population is much less, another plus. I do miss being closer to outdoor getaway places. We had dirt bikes for years and enjoyed going on the myriad of trails everywhere. I used to prospect on weekends when my wife worked and had a good time even if I didn't find anything.

The bay we were on was about 45 yards from table to target. They have longer bays. One of the other guys is a member (he is retired an is about 30 minutes from this range) I'm about an hour away, so range membership here is not practical for me. However, I retire a little over a year from now - might be worth it then.
