I have posted previous that a great alternative to a backpack for vehicle use is a short tennis racquet case. Slim design allows it to fit under or behind a seat and not be visible like a backpack for auto concealment.
I use my AR pistol as well for hunting as you discuss in your article. Keep mine strapped across my chest riding on a 4 wheeler. Saves time from grabbing off the gun rack if a coyote or hog is spotted while tending the pastures. It can be at the ready instantly.

I really like mine for anything under 100 yards. It would be the first thing I would grab in a defensive situation at the house.

I love my ODG Saint pistol, although I was young and stupid when I bought it (6months ago) and got 556. Going to have to convert to 300Blk in the near future for a better can platform. EOTECH is gone and being replaced by a Swampfox Blade. Did I mention I love the ODG?
