I always thought the object was to get the optic as close to the bore centerline as practical.
I run two scopes on their competitions mounts, one LPVO, the other a Leupold MRT. The latter in a LaRue QD mount. I've never had an issue with head height on either.
But, you gotta have an angle to sell'm
