I recently picked up a new Hip Holster for my SPFD 1911 .45ACP Operator, along with an original Viet Nam era cartridge belt and a magazine holder, trying to put together an "old school" rig to annoy the youngins' I work with at the range. The mag holder was problematic (designed for 7 round mags and the Operator has 8 round mags). With the help of some steam and wood shims I was able to stretch the old mag carrier enough to accommodate the 8 rounders. In the interim I managed to secure an authentic Viet Nam shoulder harness. Wore it to work and got the expected reactions.

A company called At the Front has been making these holsters for quite some time.
They are very meticulous about making all of their items to milspec. I have had the M3 holster for a few years and it hangs in my ready room with my SA 1911A1. I also bought the WWII reproduction tanker jacket and it's one of the best jackets I've had including the ones I wore on active duty. It even has the authentic tag inside with military nomenclature and WWII contract number. I highly recommend their products.
