1911 Ammo ?

I have recently purchased a 1911 Defender/Mil - Spec 45 ACP. Just wondering if it's OK to run
230 or 255 gr +P ammo through this handgun.
I don’t use +P anything, Nort… but any advice I would give would begin with What does the Owner’s Manual say about it? Look and see if it’s addressed there, or maybe an insert notice was included…
You can always call Springfield customer service too. They’ll know !
1-800-680-6866 I believe…

Personally I never or believe in any +p ammo, but I don’t think shooting those occasionally wouldn’t hurt, your just have to replace the recoil spring sooner if you use a lot of the +p in it, best to call Springfield up and double check the manual.

230+P shouldn’t be a problem with occasional use.

255 may or may not feed in your pistol. With +P in that weight, you will likely need a heavier recoil spring.

I have a SA Mil Spec Def Leg model.
I’ve run 15 -20 rounds of Buffalo Bore 255+P flat nosed for hogs and have had zero issues.

Now, granted its my close in round for hogs and it has only about 15 + thru it. Which it does leave a quarter size hole in a hog head, but I dont run it thru the gun on a normal basis.
I use 230 gr for ED shooting

Manual of arms says nothing about +P ammo at all.
