1911 Friday

I went to my LGS today to pick up a SA Operator I have been eyeballing. Wouldn't you know it, it was sold about a half hour before I got there. But, these two orphans had hopes of their forever home, and I couldn't resist. The Operator will have to wait. Thats a SIG STX and a S&W PCC1911

Sig 1911 is very smooth. The p
Operator, especially mc edition, is the best 1911 ever made. Imo. Good job on the sig though!

what is the idea (or reason) for the rings with the bushing??? this is new to me.
The titanium coated steel rings are machined to be .001" larger ID than the barrel OD for a tighter fit and theoretically smaller groups. There is a shoulder inside the bushing that keeps the ring from falling out. The rings are replaceable when they get some wear. The tricky part of reassembly is getting the ring perfectly square with the crown of the barrel so it does not bind when inserting the baŕrel. It is fussy. But from my experience thus far this gun shoots an extremely tight group.
