I find the Briley 1911 Bushing interesting. I believe S&W used it on the Performance Center 1911s
(it may have been Ruger on the Koneing models)
It has a replaceable ring that you can order to match your barrel OD.

The ring can move in the bushing as the barrel unlocks and moves down.
Makes me think of the bulge on the S&W model 52 barrel with the bump that fits the bushing.
