1911 Ronin Handgun

MRob

Alpha
I am comparing 1911 Ronin 9mm handguns. I am looking at the 3", 4" 4-1/2" models. I am not familiar with the different recoil systems. Can anyone direct me to a source to educate me? I do not like the feel of the plastic pistols, so I want a metal CCW. The full size 1911 is too large. If I am correct reviews indicate Ronin is better than the Defender.

I would sincerely appreciate any input.

mine is 4.5
recoil is about same as the 1911 colt i also use. its maybe a few ounces lighter, but recoil is on par with all my 1911s.
if run hotter loads it kicks more, if i run lighter loads its less.
for range work we use lighter loads so save wear and tear on the hands and stuff over 1k round days

The Ronin is a beautiful pistol. Personally I would go with the 4.25" (Commander) because it uses a traditional barrel bushing. Also I feel the Commander size has the best balance of all the other variants. But choose the size you want based off of what's your intended purpose for it.
my ronin has the traditional barrel bushing.
i wanted the 5" but its very very hard to find them around here
i ordered a garrison in stainless, but not date on when it arrives

If I am not mistaken, the 4 1/2” model is just like any commander recoil spring and plug, the others you mentioned are probably a captive recoil system, and as far as reviews go, I never go by them, I usually ask if others have shot the guns and go by that, you can read anything on the web, some true, must is just crap, I prefer personal opinions on guns, but that’s me
