First thing they are not "clips". They are magazines. Try different magazines. Also is any part of your hands riding the slide?

They're magazines, not clips. Phone SA and see what they say. A purchaser shouldn't need to fix a manufacturing issue and monkeying with a product might void your warranty.

I have seen a similar issue with an East German Makarov. Tearing the magazines apart cleaning inside the magazine body well and putting new springs in solved it.
That said, it was a surplus weapon, rather dirty, and who knows how long and how much the magazine springs were used.
1911s are very magazine sensitive, it's possible new quality magazines like Wilson might solve it. It is also very likely your grip is causing it, especially if you are using the latest fad thumbs forward grip. An actual problem with the slide release would be a distant last guess.

Ronin1911 give Springfield a call. They can troubleshoot with you over the phone and, if needed, get you setup for a warranty repair.

thanks, I believe it could be grip after reading replies, I have a Kimber full frame 1911 and use same grip, but Ronin frame is smaller .. Thanks, everone..

It's not a lecture, it's enlightenment. I also gave him additional information that would be useful and specific to him. Who's the over sensitive one here? I'm also a grumpy old man, but I'll give you a pass this time.
I'm probably more touchy now because I've been waiting over 2 weeks for a gun I ordered.Now that you mention it, it did slide back forward with empty MAG, I'm in the habit of 2-3 quick slides on empty gun, first one didn't catch, and second time did. Hmm, you may be on to something.

While no experts, my father fought in 3 wars, my closest uncle in two. all the others in WWII, Korea and later Vietnam. All used Magazine and clip interchangeable. Nit picking twists my tail, the man asked a simple question. Then I'm no expert either so I'll bow out.
