20 Best Concealed Carry Guns In 2022 (Updated!)

I like many of these guns, but some of the selections are a bit puzzling. The S&W CXS instead of the Shield Plus? The Ruger LCP II over the LCP Max? Not a bad list, but there were some excellent guns that were left off while some pretty obscure models made the cut. I can't get too worked up about it because it wasn't very long ago that there weren't more than a handful of reliable CCW's on the market.

Glad to see the XDe made the list (near the bottom, though!). Too bad somebody decided to discontinue it :(.

The Shield EZ is hammer fired with internal hammer. It looks like to me it may be SA only, with the hammer staying back all the time unless the trigger is pulled on an empty chamber??. If it is DA only, I don’t see folks liking it mech.

Below is a review of the S&W CSX done by Sootch00. Duration 27+minutes. (May have to unmute the sound speaker in the video on the icon in the video menu bar below the video during auto play (at least I had to)).

Hmm, ok it's someone's opinion I know that. Not terrible, I might disagree on a few picks.

I would probably include a couple different revolvers over something like the Bond Bullpup, and I think the SW 342 .38 special should be there, even though I am a 638 fan. If they will only let one SW snub the 342 over the 340. And a steel 640 which is so comfortable shooting. Many neophyte shooters will touch off a .357 in that 340 lw and never touch it again. And really, the whole idea if these pieces is to give people, especially neophytes, carry ideas.

Nice review. Thanks. Now I'm a bit more curious.

No problem Mike. I have the CSX I bought recently, but have not fired it at the range yet. My buddy has a Sig 938, which similarly is Hammer fired SAO, but single stack. The CSX has more capacity and I think is similar in most other respect. It looks tiny, but surprising fits my hand well when inspecting it at my LGS.

I don't see the XDe on there...... The CSX caught my attention as a smaller version of the XDe.

I love my XDE but it's tall. Then I realized the CSX is only SA

Thanks. The only thing i was concerned about is the "false reset" mentioned in the video. That must be a S&W thing. I was handling a Shield (not the Plus) at my LGS and it too had an odd reset where there was definite tactile "click" before the actual reset. The Shield Plus did not have that. Part of the CSXs appeal to me is the 1911'ish controls and trigger. It's almost as if my M&P9 and my 1911 had a kid. I hope you can let us know how it shoots when you get it out on the range.

I am kind of hoping they will do a "XL" version like Sig and Springfield. Then I might really look hard at one, I greatly prefer a hammer.

I think their next CSX release will be offering it in the new Super 30 caliber. Whether they do anything to increase the slide, I haven't heard, but they don't really tell me their plans either. I just heard Tom Gresham on Gun Talk Radio, talking with a S&W rep which kind of acknowledged them doing the CSX in 30 Super.

Funny; I thought it was out in 30 super already…??

The XDe was number 20 on the list of 23. I don’t remember, though, whether the author had them listed in order of preference or just randomly. On “my” list, the XDe is near the top.
