I remember a large flight of B-36's flying over the place I lived at a very young age. May have ben a farewell flight of some sort.

BTW - Best to use "widest" vs. "longest" for wingspan.

During my USAF service I worked with a GS-9 employee who was retired USAAC & USAF. He was a flight engineer on a B-36 during the late 40's & early 50's. He used to tell me stories of how complicated, and prone to catching fire, the B-36 was. I learned a lot from Cecil. He was a true Patriot.

It was nicknamed "Magnesium Overcast", and even before the podded J47s were added, the thing was considered OVER powered.........
