25,000 rounds gone

Went to local large outfitter big box store today. I was in there last week as well.
Looking for some specialty ammo.
Noticed the AR section was a 20’ void of ammo so I asked the clerk what happened.
He said they had 10 boxes of 1000 round of 5.56 and 15,000 rounds of mix .223/5.56 in 20 round to 300 round packs of all brands.

sold all 25,000 rounds in 5 days
Said protesters showed up on TV and the next day folks mobbed the ammo section and kept it up till it was gone.

Yes same thing happened here. Even with the one box per caliber limits they have here.

I cannot bake for ****.
Same prob applies to reloading.
i cant wing it like cooking, have to be specific.
I think I would blow myself up, just like the baking I tried.

Problematic asterisks I see! With over 35 years of reloading it's still safety first and always double check! I need a class4 so I can sell/produce ammo! I've checked for online availability, but haven't checked any stores.

I bought the last two ammo cans of Federal XM193 (420rds/can) for $200 each.

Sigh.

Other than that, just Wolf and Hornady Steel cased left on the shelf for .223/5.56.

Are you not sharing with others? Can you count from 5.56 to 7.62? My count starts at .355 and goes to .50?

Well, as far as my 7.62’s go, I’m pretty set...3-4K rounds of 7.62x39 (and only two rifles that shoot it...), just under 2k rounds of 7.62x51 (Mix of Aussie, German, Serbian, Danish, British, South African, and, iirc, Malaysian...maybe some Portuguese or Spanish, as well)...5 spam cans of 762x54, as well as several hundred loose rounds...a couple thousand rounds of 7.62x63 (.30-06) M2 Ball, all in clips, mainly lake city, as well as some Greek and Korean surplus...

A few hundred rounds of .308 handload, mix of 168gr SMK match loads and 150gr TTSX hunting loads.

Oh, yeah...and 40 rounds of .30x416AI loaded with 200gr BTHP's. 20 pieces of empty brass, there.

I've got a pile of 556 brass, as well as a bunch of 55gr BTHP's, powder and primers...but I’ve got to get motivated to swage the damn pockets. Otherwise, I’ve got maybe 3-400 rounds of brass ready to go.

If your the only 1 shooting them they can usually go/last longer? Good luck out there!

I have a bad (good?) habit...these past few years, when ammo was cheap...when there was a really good deal, I’d buy. Often would end up selling/trading to friends...but the latest “crisis” caught me short on 556, and I’m planning on taking some classes with the AUG and possibly the HK53 this summer (still on, for the time being). These two cans should mostly cover them...

Went to a Rural King the other day and bought two boxes of 10mm. All the other calibers were gone (9mm 45ACP 223 and 5.56) the guy said they sell faster than they can put them on the shelves.

Yes I like to have a couple thousands rounds for each of the guns I shoot. Everybody would say why do I have so much but now they want some.
