357 Magnum: The Pros And Cons For Self-Defense

i am absolutely in LOVE with my 3....357 revolvers....only thing here is, each is 6" barreled.....and i am short. it would really look like i had a 3rd leg, if i carried...lol

i have a G 30, and my Hellcat, for switching out, that is, when i get my CCW, sometime by about september..???

class, end of May..........waiting time, up to 90 days to go thru the process after that.........

I love my .357 Magnums, though I've mostly fired .38 Special through them at the range. I think any article about .357 Revolvers in 2021 is doing a disservice to new buyers if they don't mention the insane cost of both .357 Mag and .38 Spl. ammo. Right now on Ammoseek.com .357 ammo is going for $1.65 to $2 per round for brass-cased ammunition. One site is advertising $0.84 per round, but is charging almost $10 per box shipping with a $4.99 handling fee, so I don't consider that a legitimate price. .38 Special varies a little more, but still regularly goes from $1-$2 per round.

I finally ordered a Charter Arms Bulldog in .44 Special because I have been regularly finding .44 Spl. ammo for $1-$1.25 per round. It sounds insane, but at today's prices I save enough money to pay for the gun if I fire 500 rounds through the Bulldog instead of one of my .357 Mag. revolvers. I could probably get the prices closer if I only fired .38 Spl. FMJ rounds, but that wouldn't give me an excuse to buy a new gun.

If you are in Illinois , like me , you will have a longer wait then that.

You won’t be sorry on getting the Bulldog, I love the one I got, right now it’s loaded with Hornady 180gr XTP, very intimidating seeing those big old hollow points in the chambers staring at you. My current .357 is my Tayler’s & Company 1873 Cattleman “Smokewagon” single action, great gun, fun to shoot.
