Nice story and history of the .45acp, plus also on the 1911
Depends on the number of assailantsI’m an odd duck as I like the 45, 38/357 and 9mm. I carry a 45 for duty with 10 round mags (HK45 LeM)
I sort of have to point out (and not meaning it insulting) that bringing up the mag capacity on 45’s (and or revolvers) ad a negative is a sign of insecurity…..in most all reasonable most likely scenarios if it goes more than 4 rounds it’s a mag dumb and looks like an abortion with the perp not hit or hit once in a non viral (research any police body cam video)
Shot placement and penetration have solved more issues than mag capacity!!!
Meh. 440C.Like to have that OTF knife.
The multiple assailants thing is also overplayed. In most cases once rounds start or you drop the first the rest scatter like cockroaches because the see a field promotion they aren’t prepared for. Any number of robbery videos shows that as has been my experience in the Municiple LE worldDepends on the number of assailants

In any case of over 3 (provided they are actually fighters and not average path of least resistance thugs) your gonna run out of time before you run out of bullets!!
Untrained street thugs ? The untrained part gives you time and the street thug part lessens the odds they're just going to run away. Maybe. The thing is by the stats you are 100% correct. But by the stats almost none of us even need to be carrying a gun. In any case being trained and prepared isn't hurting anyone. The multiple assailants thing is also overplayed. According to the 3rd Study on Cop killers by the Force Science Institute your average street thug trains more than your average cop. (Link below)Untrained street thugs ? Well I disagree. Having had an inordinate amount of interactions with street thugs. And I disagree about the pepper spray too. But everything ain't for everybody.According to the 3rd Study on Cop killers by the Force Science Institute your average street thug trains more than your average cop. (Link below)
While sure the better to have it and not need it is a thing (firearm) people get wrapped around the axel on capacity. I feel from having a front row seat to crime the capacity thing is oversold. While sure if you have more rounds or want more then you do you. Just in reality it’s a minuscule of percentage you will need a gun let alone have time to go through that many rounds..At least that would be legally justified.
And like I’ve said many threads while this is a firearm forum and we all like guns folks would be better off carrying some type of OC or Pepper spray than an extra 15,17 or 21 rd magazine

New Findings From FBI About Cop Attackers & Their Weapons - Force Science
New findings on how offenders train with, carry and deploy the weapons they use to attack police officers have emerged in a just-published, 5-year study by the FBI. Among other things, the data reveal that most would-be cop killers: show signs of being armed that officers miss; have more...www.forcescience.com
Why I preach pepper spray is the majority of criminal interactions that require one to use force doesn’t rise to “deadly force” but Pepper Spray falls within “reasonable force”Well I disagree. Having had an inordinate amount of interactions with street thugs. And I disagree about the pepper spray too. But everything ain't for everybody.
Well everyone’s situation is different. 9 years in north St.Louis gave me a lot of interactions with homeless people. I never had any issues with homeless people or a situation where I would have pepper sprayed them. I never felt like an old bum was a threat to me. I also passed out untold numbers of cigarettes and even dollar bills when I felt the need. I actually have a pretty interesting story about a time I spent about a month doing grid main in front of a dayroom for homeless people but that’s a horse of a different color. Why I preach pepper spray is the majority of criminal interactions that require one to use force doesn’t rise to “deadly force” but Pepper Spray falls within “reasonable force”
I frequent Seattle where there is an off the chart homeless problem and many are aggressive panhandling that wjem told no start throwing items spitting at you WTC. Shooting them isn’t quite legal or fall into that “reasonable force”
And like Chuck Haggard points out in his classes if George Zimmerman would have used pepper spray right at the start nobody would know his name he wouldn’t be 500K in debt for legal bills would still have his house still be employable and most likely not be divorced.
Not to mention it works great if you are being trailed by those “multiple assailants “ spray the few and air and gives you an out with the Nike response if your on the street.
The issue with a lot of the homeless in Seattle and other major cities (and I’m not discounting ST Louis area is pretty big) a large number are extremely mentally ill as in Psychotic or extremely drug addicted and filed. They walk into traffic and there are actually birds of them.Well everyone’s situation is different. 9 years in north St.Louis gave me a lot of interactions with homeless people. George Zimmerman took it upon himself to be a neighborhood watch guy and rather than calling the cops he confronted the punk. THAT was his mistake.
