5 Common AK Mistakes You Can Avoid

I love my AK's. I've avoided the majority of these mistakes by not customizing a single thing. I have been known to perform some minor modifications/accessorizing of my AR's, but I like my AK's just the way they are. I've heard all the tales of how much abuse an AK can take, but I would never intentionally abuse any of my guns. I clean all of my guns any time I shoot them, regardless of how dirty they may be able to run.

Am about same way with AK's. Different muzzle devices and scope pic mounts is about it. But, like them fairly basic.

Thanks for posting Bob. I have a used Wasr 10 that I modified a bit with pic rails, vertical grip, barrel bi-pod, scope, etc. One quad rail replaced gas tube cover and it’s bottom wooden hand guard, while the other pic rail is hinged using the rear sight housing (rear Sight required removal), which allowed the scope to be moved further back. The quad rail needs to be removed (two piece held together with Allen screws), to clean the gas tube, which is a royal pain.
I recently bought an AK Cherry furniture set, & have decided to restore the Wasr back to it’s original configuration.

Welcome BET7,
Glad you found it enjoyable. Can be hard not to tinker or modify firearms sometimes for many people, me included. I love the mechanics and function of firearms. Sometimes modding works out well, other times not so much. So long as much is just bolt in place no harm, no foul as long as safety's observed? Can understand some of the thoughts and needs behind a person when looking at a firearm sometimes like when seeing a replacement trigger when previous type trigger had issues for example? Some other examples like when installing bipod when a rifle wasn't designed for one can present some other issues? Thankfully most is reverseable. Some isn't so easily reversed like modding mag wells.

Agreed Bob. My modifications all worked out well. I originally mounted a Bi-Pod under the Gas Tube, but found it to be too far back, so I attached a barrel Bi-pod. I got it to be accurate out to 100 yards or more, so no real problems there.
It's just that my taste/opinion has changed a bit, and I'd like to "restore" the rifle to it's original design, and learn to use the iron sights.
I also have a polymer AK47, that have the similar modifications I mentioned in my prior posts sans the quad Pic rail mod. I'll leave that one alone for now.
My thoughts are the Romanian Wasr 10 will look better with the reddish Cherry furniture and iron sights it was originally issued as.

Agreed Bet7, the reddish colored wood furniture sure is nice looking!
....now if could just get people to quit calling most of the plastic handles Bakelite we might be all set? Bakelite is brittle, one of the very first plastics ever invented, but not what most of the softer plastic handles and furniture are made of now. Likely made of some sort of Urethane or "polywhatever"....and a lost cause of real debate? Am mostly kidding. It is what it is sometimes? :)
