5 Guns NOT to Panic Buy

The gent feels that for first time buyers should stay away from pistol grip shotguns, revolvers and ak 47's.Reason being ease of use, reloading and in the case of the ak,not knowing what you are getting.Agree with pistol grip shotgun, but think a four inch wheel gun is a good choice. Not a snub nose for first time buyer, but that is just me.

PG shotguns..,yeah, I’m onboard with that. Never thought they were good for much other than “cool” factor range toys,

AK's—fair observation. The only ones I have are a Hungarian FEG SA58’s; one underfolder, one thumbhole. I’m leery of recent production.

Revolvers...yeah, a 4” K or L is perfectly acceptable...but a 2.5 or 3” on the same frame would work, too. I wouldn't recommend a J-frame to a new shooter, though...maybe a 3” with a full grip would work.

I would also love to buy those $8 .40 Glocks and I don't like Glocks. Agree completely about small revolvers however as someone said a good S&W 3" is not bad. I took my 686+ (7 round) to my gunsmith and with a few springs and adjustments, $74, I have a really nice trigger that any new shooter would do well with.

AK's are tough since there are so much junk out there. I would like to know what he was shooting but it would probably be better for my bank account if I don't know. I have a 1992 Chinese Norinco that was built to beat the Clinton ban with a thumb hole grip and a really nice trigger. Damn accurate for an AK. Damn well made gun not like some of the crap they are making all over now.
