"We're dealing with the same problem: a $9 billion industry turning their profits into our pain," New York Mayor Eric Adams told ABC News in an appearance on "Good Morning America" with the mayors of Buffalo, New York; Little Rock, Arkansas; and St. Louis.

In the US last year 274 people died every day from drug overdoses, I wonder what percentage of that comes from Mexico.

Drug Overdose Deaths in the U.S. Top 100,000 Annually

Smith & Wesson and Ruger are the top two in firearms sold in the US, so no wonder they are in the top 5.

Some interesting data compiled by ATF-

Firearms Trace Data - 2019

In 2019 in New York City 3834 firearms were recovered and traced.
2396 (62%) were traced from an illegal possession of a firearm or involved in a drug crime.

How many could be prevented if criminals actually went to prison?

C'mon Shanneba, you can't use logic and reasoning. That makes it totally unfair to the left.

true..how "nice it would be" if judges actually denied plea bargaining, ans lawyers stopped "judge shopping" for a push over judge.

the tried and true arguments/debates on "we need MORE prisons, just NOT in my backyard", ahs to end as well.

if a state owns some land, either large enough to build a long/wide multi-level prison, then do so. if the state has enough land to build a high rise prison, thew do so.

it is sickening to say the least, that all of us pay taxes, and all we hear is, "there isn't enough money to do this, or that, but there is enough for pay raises..???

i could care less where a prison is built, just do it...!!!

i could care less where it is built, this is why you have high fencing, barbed or razor wire, this is why you have guard towers, with heavily armed guards.

shoot to kill an escapee, or someone climbing the fencing......

the laxing attitude of some "in power" needs to end, and that end, always starts at primary time.

Another comparison to 110 killed by guns per day-

90 people a day are killed in car crashes, but they aren't suing the car companies.

Motor Vehicle Crash Deaths

"Over 18,000 lives could be saved each year if US crash deaths equaled the average rate of 19 other high—income countries."

NY, NYC real has a bunch of idiots at the helm. Pandering elitists and feckless morons full of gab. An these same twits are now eyeing a spot on the 2024 Primary.

When the GreatGunBan of ‘94 was passed, it was part of a larger Crime Bill which jailed many for drug possession, distribution and selling, it increased penalties and added aggravating factors such as use of firearms to increase incarceration time. They eventually found this to be “divisive” and profiling.

Open borders (north and south) and the few sporadic vehicle checks have allowed tremendous and an immeasurable amount narcotics, synthetic drugs to come into the USA for decades.
These drugs are plentiful and being sold cheap, leading to the turf wars that’s settled with guns, by or on the orders of the dealers. Another factor in gun violence is the popular culture and disrespecting the perceived turf rats.

They like to say it’s the gun problem but don’t mention the “root cause”.
Simple; where theres drug markets, there are gangs and where theres gangs there’s guns.
They like to say there’s an addiction problem. Feed more money into programs that a bloated city patronage sponges fronting as medical service providers with little ability to cure what they say is a scourge. Big cities put million of dollars into these useless programs that funnels money back into select politicians. If they can’t allow drugs to enter the USA, they cant profit from the abuse. Same applies to firearms, they can’t capitalize on firearm manufacturing, so they will vilify them.
Theres a pause happening on certain justice reform line items as the public begins to wake up.
Don’t expect border to close, inspections to increase or any “war on drugs” to happen.

A lot of these liberal cities relaxed the criminality especially when it came to actual jail time. The plea deal is an actual dumbing down of the legal profession. There used to be ethics, but the plea deal saves not only time and money (for programs), but also strengthens the progressive agenda.
Floundering NYC Adams is not going to save NYC, he’s going to enrich himself and his own...just like Deblasio had done, them blame an opponent.
You’ll see some cases actually going to trial and sentencing handled down if these cases have political value.
When they speak of banning firearms, they say “if it can save one life…” but when it come to death by or related to illegal drugs, they simply want the carnage to blame the ‘systemic whatever‘ they find best suits their political needs.

maybe not now, suing car companies, vut with the advent of "self driving" cars, i can see a sudden spike in suing.

it'll be driver error, like not reading the owners manual, or asking questions, but the lawyers will find a way.

"We're dealing with the same problem: a $9 billion industry turning their profits into our pain," New York Mayor Eric Adams told ABC News in an appearance on "Good Morning America" with the mayors of Buffalo, New York; Little Rock, Arkansas; and St. Louis.

This quote from the article is telling:

'Putting a focus on the manufacturers is deliberate, St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones said.

"If this were any other industry that was as deadly then the government would have already acted to make sure that we got rid of whatever was killing our citizens," Jones said. "We haven't seen that action from the federal government so we have to look at the root causes and try to cure gun violence in our cities."'

Soooooo..... The criminals are killing our citizens but the good mayor is releasing them from prison by the basket load.

You can't have a battle of wits with an unarmed man.

WOW nice to know we have insightful people collecting data. Glocks sell more so logic would dictate they would be the most confiscated. Looking forward to the day when the ridiculous / idiotic talking points stop and plans / actions are put in service. Accountability is not that hard to follow.

So it’s not about the criminal element it’s only about the gun and in this situation it’s about how the gun manufacturers are responsible??
Interesting.

So why isn’t it when people get drunk or get messed up on drugs and get behind the wheel and kill people in accidents it’s not about the vehicle or it’s manufacturer??

I know rhetorical question.

hear this picture..jpg

So if they could get rid of all the evil black rifles the killings would stop correct ? No !? You mean they might start using something else ??? Like maybe a Shotgun with 00 buck , or maybe a pistol , or maybe bombs ???

Or just maybe they need to get the criminals off the street and keep them off. I am all for the death penalty and not 10 years after the fact either. JMHO!!!!!!
